I'm really not sure how this works, but perhaps one of our Spanish friends can explain it.

From what I can fathom, you need to subscribe to Altaya for the complete collection of paired vintage Scalextric "rivals". They do look rather good!

I think that there are 55 cars in the collection! You also get a nice carrying case for them.

An odd pairing is the Brabham BT46 raced in 1978, whereas the Ferrari 312B3 first raced in 1973; and the Chaparral 2E and Ford GT 40 Mk II.

Just checked the link and using my wobbly Spanish I think there are going to be the 14 cars Russell has shown and then as an enducement to taking out a subscription they will supply an RS200 and a Lancia 037 and a sixteen car carrying case.

Now the dilemma is whether to subscribe and get several cars I already have or wait and pay a premium for the ones I really want

I didn't see any reference to that Beejay, but I think that has been the case before! Possibly because of the Scalextric branding. The 55 is number of issues of the magazine to make up the whole set. Cars are "broken up" into four issues and I think you get issue 2 free with issue 1!

I am afraid will pass though, too bloody difficult to collect, oh and rather steep price, the M1 will probably be one of the most expensive. boo!

No spanish replies here... let me add one.

The collection are 55 issues, 14 cars in total "chopped" in every 4 issues: Body, chassis, axles+screws, motor; then you assemble the car (sometimes it's hard to do). Subscribers get 2 extra cars: Lancia 037 & Ford RS200. SCX club affiliates, 10% discount. Every issue is 7.95€ + 2 covers @ 6.50€. Total amount for the full collection is approx. 440€ (400€ for SCX club affilates).

Methinks, sadly, that the old Scalextric/SCX brand name issue might conscievably come in to play here if they are shipping 'Scalextric' branded products that aren't Hornby products' out of Spain.

I'd be up for a subscription if they did, mind.

I'm here after my holidays (no mail, no net, almost no phone)

On the mail there was waiting an offer from Altaya, this collection as described: 14 cars on the shops after 55 weeks and if you subscribe it, two more cars and a carring case for all the sixteen cars.

If it's an only spanish offer, it's possible as Altaya is a spanish company and has a Portugal branch and a France branch with their specific offers, but it's not impossible to subscribe through an spanish dealer and be mailed from him. Interested people can contact me for the details.

The Scalextric brand forbides to sell out of Spain and Portugal I think, but not to privately sell them.

i was interested several weeks ago about another scalex altaya collection, and sent them a mail

after a month they answer that they only send items in spain and not in france! this is very surprising and disapointed because there is an "altaya france" (i'm french

) but they said that they don't work (they even don't know !!!) them

i asked to altaya france at the same time, but they still have not replyed

so sad....

just returned from Ibiza where the altaya collection was in the news shops. the ferrari is by far the best edition yet with smart tampo/paint job. i bought 3 of issues 1 & 2 . I fitted proslot wheels/tyres to ferrari, looks great. The porsche is less so as this livery has been done by other makes allthough I think this is better than the Fly version.Also in shops was the Fly collection, a 917K porsche, Buenos Aires 1971, driven by Emmerson Fittipaldi, part 2 was cockpit with driver figure rather expensive as only difference from a donor car is Emmos helmet, so now must look out for race damaged (i.e. cheap) 917k's .............alan

I just got the Ferrari and Porsche bodies.

The printing job is very crisp. I agree that this livery of the 333SP is by far the best done by SCX so far. If you're thinking about fitting the body to the chassis of a former livery, please note that :
1° the wing comes with the chassis, so you'll need to buy the chassis as well to get the accurate livery ;
2° if you don't mind about getting the accurate rear wing, you must also be aware that the chassis has been changed (the front screws don't match). So, unless you have a green "Supersport" livery, a little tuning will have to be done.

Regarding the Porsche, it is true that this livery has been done by Scalextric, Ninco and Fly. This is probably the only car whose shape Fly got completely wrong. Ninco's version was done with stickers and Scalextric's wasn't the Le Mans livery. I didn't make an immediate comparison, but I would say that the SCX body could be the finest so far.
