hi , thanks for reply fast lucky. I agree the porsche is better than the fly, the detail around the windows etc is superior and the tampo job is really neat. fortunately i was on holiday just at the right time so was able to obtain 3 issues of part 2 , with chassis and rear wing. I havn't got the correct motor as i have fitted a rx-4 , will have to hard wire or probably wait to see if i can pick up a crash damaged car with motor/guide, the proslot wheels/tyres really suit the car, these are borrowed from one of shueys f1 ferrari's, so might slow him down.
In fact it's such a nice car it deserves working headlights, not so sure about the rears being printed on.....alan [email protected]

There was at least one Ferrari 333 at the Milton Keynes meet a week or so ago, they surely looked like the model SCX should have released years ago, i.e. they had headlight glass and decent tampo. Can't wait for Delfi to send me mine!

That said, the two that I saw at the swapmeet both had rear wings bent at a jaunty angle - I guess the magazine packaging isn't protecting them that well. Fingers crossed mine is square.

I told myself when taking out the full subscription that I would probably Ebay several of the cars in the collection as Chappies, SCX 40's, and that 911 GT-1 did nothing for me but now I'm thinking they are all keepers!

hi, guys
not sure if I want to throw water on this party...but just a word
of caution: I have a couple of these cars from Ebay auctions
(brand new, still in their bags and with their attached Spanish
magazine and instructions). Personally, I have not been very
impressed. They are noisy, don't run very well, the tires have
no traction. The bodies are usually fairly nice though. If you are
expecting Scalextric quality (and I know that is another can of
worms for some of you)...I doubt you will find that. If you are
willing to rework them quite a bit (mechanically), you might get them
up to typical Scaley standards. Just a thought...then again, for all I
know...maybe the quality is improving with this release.

regards
John

fyi...I have the Mercedes 280 SL and the Ferrari sharknose

PS after rereading the earlier messages in more detail, it sounds like
some of you already have bought these cars, and love them! So...hmmmm...
maybe I should try them again?

No John, I think your cautionary note isn't totally out of place. The thing to remember with these issues is that whilst they are SCX in origin they do appear to be made of a cheaper plastic - both chassis and body.

Of course, the two you have purchased are re-workings of seriously old models; no way they could rival today's build quality. I know with the Motul M1 that I have, the fact that it is the same 'chassis locks into the rear bodywork' design, instead of a contemporary floating shell retained with screws, really limits the performance. Couple that with it being powered by the more gutsy version of the RX motor and in no way can it rival one of SCX's modern releases.

No, be advised, these are re-workings of older models in cheaper plastic; but the chance to get a BASF M1 or tampoed Pilot F-40 is too good to miss for me.
And all of mine will get run! Far to tempting to be just shelf-queens.

hi
yes you are right about the packaging, it is quite minimal. the thing is if you buy from a news shop in spain they are all crammed in together with about 50 other titles, it does make it exciting when entering shop it's a bit like a car boot. also on one of my ferrari's the headlamp glass was missing on one side, i noticed this while it was still sealed in packaging so only had a 2 mile walk back to shop to exchange. this would have been really frustrating if it had been posted to you as the headlamp glass is one of the things that lifts this above earlier releases.you have to look at these models in context that they are re issues of earlier models, at a cost of 31.80 euros about £23 with a magazine which has some pretty pictures, shame it's not in english.presumably these can not be sold in uk do to some copyright of scalextric name, but how about scalextric doing the same re -issuing older cars upgraded with tampo/paint jobs, i.e mk1 escort, capris etc. then again the spanish cars allways were nicer with more detail ,individual wheels to a car instead of generic wheels so that a mini, capri, escort etc all have the same wheel, compare this to the wheels on seat 850, or 500

Yup. You can bet your bottom dollar that if this was done in the UK it wouldn't be handled in the same way as Altaya, and it wouldn't be as cheap and you would have to sign up for all of 'em and, and, and....

The ole' cynic in me just won't lay down and die.

To the general information on press-issues: If you buy the issues in a shop you can inspect them and reject faulty items. No serious press-shop owner would sell anything faulty because the alternative exists: Altaya subscription plan.

If yo buy through subscription directly to Altaya, the issues arrive in a pasteboard rigid case holding four issues. If there are faulty items you can send them back to Altaya at no cost.

I'm not connected to Altaya, and no by other mean interested in promote the collection, this one or any other. But those colectins have attracted many people to Slot Cars collecting and they will last.

First 'coches Miticos' collection was a re-issue of ancient Scalextric cars from the Exin days, completely unavailable and inimitable, but very close (only the plastic was not the same from the original ones) and those not so fortunate to have the original ones were very interested on collecting them.

This new collectin has tampoo decorations, closer to real cars than the orignal Tyco or Tecnitoys cars. And some people view this collectoin to have a new oportunity to get some cars so can be S&B to more real liveries.

See some examples:

The Carte de France BMW M1:

The Andy Warhol BMW M1

Even the BASF that we will see included is a must have livery.

QUOTE (Wankel Ickx @ 28 Sep 2004, 10:53)Delfi, did you do the Carte car? How easy was it - I'm an arse with decals but a sucker for M1s.
It's not easy, sorry, and I'm expecting to got the new BMW to try it out. The work is based on Patto's decals, some detailss and all this. The complete history is on the old S&B spanish slot forum:

Hi DE38

Bad news i'm afraid - the Ferrari chassis that comes with the other parts of the car includes the rear wing (tampo printed to mathc the car).

A quick search on Pendle shows only the following spares:
87710 TYRE PACK TYPE 5 21x12 (4) FERRARI 333SP etc In Stock 2.50

Even the complete cars are out of stock.

The best place to look will be in the rumage bins, under the tables of a swapmeet or on ebay, but unlikely to find the issue your after on it's own rather than a complete car.

I'm off to Barcelona on Friday - i'll look out for one and let you know.

If you don't care about getting the accurate rear wing, you can put this body on another 333 BUT you should try to locate the green one (it was called LMC Supersport or soething like that), since the front screws aren't not on the same places on earlier liveries (the ones without clear plastic on the lights). Of course, you can still go for one of those and drill new holes into the body !

Thanks for the info guys, I have my eye on one on auction , its the Pilot livery , blue , but I dont think it has the clear lenses up front, but shouldnt be hard to fashion a couple posts . A couple more questions, I know where I can get a Momo livery , did this one have the clear lenses ? Also , does anyone know if one of the Racer resin chassis would work. Proffessor Motor offers the full line of Racer products , chassis , wing replacements and the right wheels and inserts.
Thanks, greatly appreciate any info.

The Pilot, Momo, Lista and Plastic Zeta liveries are all without clear lenses.

Only the Spain-only green "Super Sport" do have ones, as well as a "set-only" multicolour (orange and blue) Bridgestone and a special club edition. However, the latter has a modified rear wing.

Regarding Racer's 333s, they are no match to SCX ones.

Heres a little story for my quest to own a 333SP. There is a guy on ebay that is selling the bodies from the Mythical Duels collection. I ended up with one fairly cheap. I figured how hard could it be to find an SCX chassis for this , well it was alot harder than I thought. I had a new Fly Panoz rolling chassis and the body fit pretty well , but the chassis took quite a bit of modification , this being a front engine setup the Fly motor was too tall , swapped it for a Fox motor , with a little more dremeling I finally got everything to fit. If I were to go into everything I did it would take an hour to read . In my search for a chassis , I ended up at Slot Car World , looking through their vintage and specials section , I found something very special, a Racer 333SP Giesse kit that had been returned, it is the un painted kit.
I couldnt believe the price, lets just say it cost as much a new unlit Fly car
Ialways wanted one of these kits , I would go to Professor Motor site and drool over them , but just couldnt bring myself to shell out the money. First I had none , now I have 2

I proberly bought my Ferrari 333SP and Porsche 911 GT bodies from the same guy in Spain. I then asked him if he had the chassis, engine and wheels for sale too. He replied that he had the whole 333SP car for same on eBay later that week and I got it - even had an offer from him too reduce the price if I wanted to sent back the two bodies I bought first.
