Nice car and an interesting method! Having seen your result it is worth a try. Might also save some of the precious drops.The paint is a spray-can of Tamiya TS-8. It goes on very nicely if you don't follow the instructions. Holding the can 10 to 12 inches away doesn't create a good shine because the drying agent dissipates before going on the body. The drying agent helps the paint keep that "wet" look after drying. 3 light tac coats a minute apart followed by a final wet coat. Hold the can 6 to 7 inches away and move it a lot faster across the work to avoid runs. That's how this car was painted.
