Technology of the future just demoed at Apple WWDC 2013 Conference Keynote
Have a look at the keynote when it will be available on the Apple website
And in the meantime, have a look at http://anki.com

Here's a quick video of what they've demoed...
As yet, the iOS beta app is only available in the US.
It does raise lots of questions and possibilities.
So anyone in the US want to give us a review of Anki's beta app?

The app is more advertising than anything else for the moment, until it becomes your controller in the future !

It starts with an introduction video

You can than browse through a few animated screens. Here are some screenshots

Finaly, a video tells you a little bit more about the technology behind the scene (impossible to capture that one :) )
It will probably come out soon on Anki website or Facebook account.

The rest is coming soon ...

P.S. : and here is how the story started

They are offering the Starter pack for $149 now (down from $199). I wonder if they are having trouble selling it?

Typical marketing reaction as Real FX Racing is about to be released and offers a lot more than Anki Drive
I want a slot car. We may as well introduce an R/C section here too!!!

Ok I LOVE slot cars!!!
The better news here is that they are about to release an app that allows the Android users to play as well.
Now THAT is good news. It also indicates that either they've planned that all along, or that sales have been good enough to warrant the Android version.
If that's really the case, I might end up getting a starter set to play with.

If sales are that good, you generally don't discount your price. Why would you?
Yeah, that's the strange thing.
Maybe sales aren't so good, and they're hoping that making it Andoid compatible will boost sales, and it's statistically shown that Andoid users tend to be a bit cheaper than Apple users, wanting cheaper and free apps, whereas Apple users are more willing (statistically) to pay more for apps, and not expect them all to be free. So, to get the Android crowd, they also have to reduce the set price, and hope to make up the profit in numbers? I have no idea, just guessing.
I'm guessing it will be BLE 4.0 (re the Android app)
