I just thought I would let those interested know that I intend to leave the wonderful world of Slot Racing, (well almost), as soon as I have sold my slot collection (650 cars).

I'll be joining the same hobby as that other well known ex-Slotist macP in refighting the second world war with my R/C Cruiser....If I can get it built that is....

Thanks to all who have helped me in the past and good luck to all the fine people I've had the pleasure of meeting over the years, and I will still pop into the Forum to see what is happening now and again

Good luck to you all.

In the meanwhile I'll be posting sale items in the appropriate section of the Forum, unless Doug kicks me out.

If anyonne is interested in buying any of my cars, then just PM me with their email adddress and I'll send them a spreadsheet...open to offers on them all.

Regards

Alan

Hi Alan,

That is very sad news my friend. Our chats over the years at the various meetings we have attended together has been a great source of advice, to someone who is relavtivly new on the scene. Thanks especially for your continued support of SSR, and, most importantly, thanks for helping me to solder together the front end of my Alfa Bimotore at EBs this year!

Cheers mate, have a good one!
Regards

I'm confused Alan. I just don't recall receiving your personal application - in triplicate, requesting permission to retire yourself.

I'll talk with the tassie guys, we might have to send a trans-tasman delegation up there to "sort you out" - but in serious mode. Thanks for friendship, advice, and our time together when you came to the Shakey Iles.

I hope you'll be using Live steam to power that cruiser, none of this silly 'lectrical motor power stuff.

Alan, add me to the list of those sad to learn of your departure from the hobby. I'd like to thank you for your contribution to SlotForum and also for the inspiration that you have provided via your blog. I've been following it for a few years and have taken both enjoyment and knowledge from it. I hope you find great enjoyment in your new hobby.

Best regards,

Sorry to hear you're departing Alan.

I can remember stumbling over your website a few years ago (before finding either Auslot or here). Seeing the cars and track and thinking I wouldn't mind giving that a go.

Thankyou for that little shove that got my involved in this crazy world.

Good luck for the future.

Hi Alan, Just picked your post up.
if you remember i had noticed a little unrest in our exchange of of mails
regarding the state of the hobby, what i did not realize was how close, like
myself, you where to moving away from the hobby, but if its not giving
pleasure any longer then its time to move on.
I know you have acquired a small tug and you are looking to build a
cruiser, why not try scratch building it !! there are quite a few ship forums
that can point you in the right direction as to construction, if i can help
in any way with the build please get in touch.
Of late, as you know iv almost finished a cargo ship, i may spend a few
hours on it or put in a days work, its given me back my enthusiasm for
modeling without the pressure of deadlines.
Good luck in your new world of shipping, keep in touch and let me know
how you are progressing.
kind regards
Mac P

Sad to see another of my favourite slot car builders leave slots, just taken delivery of a couple of Beejay's cars and they are beautifully made.

The spreadsheet has also arrived, many thanks.

Going into to model ship building is a great hobby though, all my ship builds are safely in the Attic,

As seen from my Avatar, ships and cars are my relaxing hobbies. Would love to do a R/C HMS Warspite one day.

From the info i get from Maria sunny days are a scarce commodity in UK so you both should take care of building ships easily transported on a plane, you get plenty of them(sunny days) in our part of the world.

Good luck with the new hobby, looks like you`re already off to an excellent start!
If you`re ever up Sunderland you should go to the museum & have a look at the old models of ships that were built in the Pallion & Doxford yards. Everyone is a work of art.
Bit of a bummer if you`re ripping up that track of yours.
Cheers,
Kev.

Sorry to see you are leaving the slot racing hobby Alan, I've enjoyed many a race meeting with you and will miss your wonderful sense of humour....

I think there are quite a few slot racers of a certain age who have been around for ever and are now starting to find other interests, fortunately there is quite a bit of young blood to replace us old fogies.

I hope you have lots of fun with your boats.
