My layout "Hurstland Park 3" has now gone.

This is solely due to "Richardtheforth's" thread "Beyond the Loft Hatch"

The new Hurstland Park is being built and I will start a new thread to cover the progress.

Basically, because I liked Richards layout so much I started fiddling with layouts using his as a starting point and have ended up with this.

Scaled reptile Line Font Reptile Tail

I currently have/use:

Separated based PB Pro with SH and Riko's 4 lane start/finish line.
After market PSU.
Pit Pro - using two paralleled sensors.
RichG's Display tower.
SSDC v5

To go to the new APB C7042 set up this what I think I need/want to do:

Ensure the two lanes are totally separate - for 2 lane analogue racing. No curved lane changers being used.
Confirm XLC's do not require modification for 2 lane analogue racing.
Purchase power leads to run new APB from after market PSU - Are there any suitable ones in the UK?
Purchase new lead for SSDC to APB.
Purchase new lead for RichG's display tower?
Purchase new lead for Pit Pro?
Separate APB from base - (piece of cake).

Can't think of anything else - unless someone can correct me.

The Pit Pro sensors are currently wired in parallel and were placed across the two lane pit lane to capture a car in either lane. I would now like to use the sensors in a Pit in /Pit out configuration (one on the new single entry lane and the other on the new single lane exit.)
Do I have to do any rewire of the sensors to enable them to work in the new configuration (other than extend the wires of course!)

So, looking what I currently have.....Is it worth upgrading to the New APB?

Your thoughts will be much appreciated.

Cheers

Hello Steve,

I did It !, see this thread about conversion from PBPro to APB

I have just separated APB from trackpiece, installed all the new software/firmware and at the point where I can eventually start enjoying the new features. So I still have to see whether It will be better than before, but I have a good feeling about It.

Some thoughts on your Q's;

To go to the new APB C7042 set up this what I think I need/want to do:

Ensure the two lanes are totally separate - for 2 lane analogue racing. No curved lane changers being used.
Confirm XLC's do not require modification for 2 lane analogue racing. TRUE

Purchase power leads to run new APB from after market PSU - Are there any suitable ones in the UK? I HAVE USED THE SAME SUPPLY AND LEADS, I JUST BOUGHT 2 NEW CONNECTORS. THEY ARE IN THE THREAD I REFERRED TO.

Purchase new lead for SSDC to APB. RIGHT, I DID BUY FROM RICHG, BUT RIKO ALSO HAS THEM

Purchase new lead for RichG's display tower? NO, BASICALLY IT WON'T WORK WITH APB, UNLESS YOU DISCONNECT POWER FROM PB PRO TO TRACK AND LEAVE OLD POWERBASE IN.

Purchase new lead for Pit Pro? NO, THE SAME

Separate APB from base - (piece of cake). I HAVE DONE IT, LOT OF WORK, BUT DOABLE

Can't think of anything else - unless someone can correct me. IF YOU HAVE A SLOT IT CONTROLLER, YOU NEED ANOTHER DIGITAL CARTRIDGE

The Pit Pro sensors are currently wired in parallel and were placed across the two lane pit lane to capture a car in either lane. I would now like to use the sensors in a Pit in /Pit out configuration (one on the new single entry lane and the other on the new single lane exit.)
Do I have to do any rewire of the sensors to enable them to work in the new configuration (other than extend the wires of course!) I DONT THINK YOU HAVE TO REWIRE.

So, looking what I currently have.....Is it worth upgrading to the New APB? YES, I CANT SAY NO BECAUSE I DID IT ALREADY

Good luck with your choice !

Thanks for the link Minardi. Very useful.

Have now purchased a new APB, the power leads for my PSU, and Riko's lead.

As I have a spare PB-Pro (without SH), using a single lane sensor, my thoughts are to look at using it to ID cars away from the main track and re-using RichG's lap tower.

I'm going to re-jig my Pit Pro so that I have a Pit in/Pit out configuration.

Is there any call for PB-Pro's with SH with the four lane mod?

Cheers
