All Saints Scalextric Club located in Windosr are holding a 2nd 6 hour race - Link

The 1st race was a real success for all those that joined us so I was asked to run a second one, the only real issue we had with the 1st 6 hour race was that SSDC has a slight bug causing the 6 hour race to randomly finish early. Andy Wallace is working on this I believe and there has been a seperate topic regarding this so please do not post regarding this issue.

I have come up with three options and would like your votes and opinions.

Option 1
Have 12 seperate 30 minute races using the same scoring style as the ASSC League races, essentially running a whole years league in one event.

Option 2
After some test laps work out approximatley 30 minutes of racing and agree a set number of laps, i.e. 150-200 laps.
When the 1st racer completed these laps the race ends, total laps are recorded and then totalled up at the end of the day

Option 3.
Continue to attempt a 6 hour race and just keep restarting when SSDC finishes a race

My personal preference is option 1 but would love to hear others opinions.

A big advantage of both option 1 and 2, on top of the race not prematurely finishing, is that we will not only end up with a winning team but also work out the best driver of the event.

So, please let me know your thought, and don't forget this event is open to ALL drivers over the age of 18, we already have racers travelling over 100miles for the event.

I think too that 1st option is the best and safest.

I think option 1 is the best balance between technological restrictions and human endurance

Agreed Dean, but surelly you expect the cars to stop when the drivers change over? In this instance we will stop for couple of seconds longer just to note down the laps and reset the power base before we continue again - consider it a slow pit stop (lasting no more than a minute or so).
We would love to go with Option 3 but unfortunately SSDC can not go on for 6 hours without ending the race before that - all we are doing is playing it safe.

With analogue one can make a Y connector for the controllers, so that the car does not have to stop during driver changes, but of course there does have to be a halt during lanes changes

(At the HO 6hr this is controlled by the PC prog, and could be as little as 60 seconds).

The principal is that endurance part of the event should be emphasised, or call it something else...

Even with a real endurance race there are swaps between drivers which means the car stops. In the last race all swaps were performed one the drive had pitted the car, just as in real racing.

Don't forget, when not racing the driver marshals (which is actual more work than the racing)

As Zarko stated, we will race 30 minutes, swap drivers, reset race and start again, less than 1 minute which is a pretty quick drivers swap.

Its a shame the SSDC doesn't support 6 hours, but this seems the next best thing, and also allows us to track the best driver and not just the best team.
