Just spotted an advert for this when checking out from Ebay.
Hornby official issue, not sure if it is restricted to John Lewis.

Linky

Only red and blue minis and no special features, but the price seems fair/attractive. Diehards like myself have been waitingsince 1968 for this

Was not sure where to post this, apologies if not spot-on. I have no allegiance to the vendors.

Kinde regards, Leo

Shame is doesn't come with all three minis, I know is analogue and can only support two at a time but everyone has their fav one and for those that want the white hey will be very disappointed, also a shame the tack isn't a little more exciting, if it's taking after the movie it needs to have a widy hill section and a long bus to drive.

The track in that box is only the standard figure 8 in any basic set. Would you not be better looking for the Collector's Box of "Italian Job Minis" that Scalex did a little while ago?

I agree with Leo, its the set we all wanted.

Airfix had a great idea with their Mini set in the 60's, that had Cardboard Mountians as track supports. I pestered my parents for that like a little b
d when I was a kid, only later did I realise it would not have connected with the miles of scaley track that I had. They probably explained that at the time but my hearing was blurred by that vertiginous mountain rally track!!

Are they re-doing the original with original minis?????

I have the boxed set. I have a 3 lane wood track and we race these stock. Slow but fun.

Exactly my point. You get the 3 cars in the 3 colours with the boxed collector set. Ok, you don't get any track but you can run them on any track (Turin or Toronto). I don't see what the big thrill is with only 2 of the cars and a figure 8 track.

Try finding one for less than £99 Embs! They're as rare as rocking horse teeth. Or is it Hen's poo?
Cheers
Richard

ps for some reason I thought I read somewhere that this was an Argos only set...

Hello Ember,

Anyone that this set really appeals to will already have the full 3 car set (and the video and the book and a lot of other stuff as well!!).

It must be a "boy thing"...

With respect, Leo

Found this pic of mine on the track. I have added a square of lead to the bottom and since they are racers I removed the interiors. We leave the cars on the same lanes and rotate drivers.

and as I drive a Fit aka Jazz I have these two plus a Yaris. They are mounted on the larger Mini chassis.

I paid around $85 Cdn for the Mini set

How can that work? These cars always run in the order Red, White, Blue so the Red car must always win - LOL

Nice to see these actually being raced, but then I know that you are a Mini fanatic !

Shows what I know. I did not realize they ran in that order. Hmm maybe I should drive the Red one all the time and mess with the timing system so I win all the time?

They do look nice sitting in the case but I have a roomful of Earnhardt diecasts to look at. Slot cars are made to be raced.

You star! My philosophy exactly.

Steven Cooke in my class had the Airfix Alpine Set. It was excellent (but not as good as my Scaley Cooper/Lotus Grands Prix set).
