Autoart at the Toy Fair

Well done Nuro your photos are much better than mine!! (ask Doug!).
Did you get a chance to see their range of gift products as well, some great bits in the catalogue, Brake disc clock, carburettor salt and pepper shakers!
They have also started to sell a small range of spare parts axles/wheels, tyres and motors (Doug has my picture)

But I wonder about AutoArt . . .
They make what are possibly the most detailed slot cars there are outside of the high-priced, top-end resins from the specialist manufacturers, but I am not sure who exactly is the intended market for them. I honestly don't see the slot racing market growing much bigger and, even if it grows a little, I don't see Auto-Art as the driving force behind that growth. So they have to grab customers from the other manufacturers.
It looks as though Fly could be their intended primary victim
As for a new track system, with a footprint that may slightly exceed that of Carrrera (!), it's going to have to be even more incredibly special than their cars to stand the slightest chance of breaking into the existing track sales pool. Although there are definitely some obvious track improvements that could be made with regard to existing sytems, will AutoArt make them? Even if they do, can such a relative newcomer to slots grab the track market from the current big hitters, especially with that big footprint?
Are they wise to even contemplate it?

How about we put some well thought out and informed ideas down here over this week for track imporovements that COULD be useful and give an edge. I will present it to them at the weekend.

CHange the guide for a Slot.It SICH07 or SICH10 (which ever is for plastic, I forget) and hard wire the lights. I know you shouldn't have to but it works.
They did confirm work was on it's way to the guides after listening to many suggestions.

·I really enjoy racing 1/24 cars and if Auto Art can produce 1/24 slot cars with really good performace I think they will do well.

I would like to pass on my feedback for Autoart.
For those of us who use board tracks most of the time, we are greatful of the deeper guide and the fact that they as a company, not only listen but act as well.
I would like to see a softer tyre compond used as grip is close to the lowest of all the manufacturers.
Great cars, looking forward to collecting some, hoping for a Nissan 300ZX in gold.
