sorry for even more slighty related thread necromnacy, but I have a question

I am moving away from 1/32 going to HO that I can race at home with my daughter. I am going to make some connectors so that I can plug my parma eco controllers into AFX track. Am I correct in my thinking that with the resistor based eco controllers this should just work?

Also, I have a slot.it controller with the chip for scalex sport track. Would I be correct in thinking that this is wired for positive polarity, The AFX track is negative polarity, and by plugging this controller in I might hurt it? The variable speed selection would be handy for my daughter, or should I say, so im not constantly putting cars back on the track.

Hi Tom
You are right, resistor based controllers work for either track polarity.

The latest Slot.it SCP-2 controller is available with a Universal Home / Club Racing cartridge. The earlier SCP01b and SCP01c Sloit it cartridges and all their high current cartridge only work for one track polarity.

I have just had a look at my controller and I think I also have the positive polarity. Pictures below, I cant remember what half of this stuff is. Any help would be appreciated.

I think this is the negative for scaley sport, It has the 3.5mm stereo jack

a close up of this

the other cartridge I forgot I had, Im assuming this is positive

A connector for the cartridge im assuming is positive, to fit 3 pin club tracks

and this is the internals of both cartridges.

SO I have a couple of questions with this. The first is what type of connectors are those on the positive cartridge? Secondly, the AFX track doesnt have the brakes circuit. Will I need brakes for an electronic controller to work? If I do, is there a way I can bypass this, like a dummy plug for the 3rd wire to plug into?

The one in the close up (2nd photo) which says COMMON + (negative wiring) is negative wiring. (rather confusingly, Common positive and negative wiring means the same thing)
I cannot tell which polarity the one in the third photo is. If it says COMMON - or positive wiring on it then it's definitely positive wiring. (Common negative and posative wiring means the same thing)
The standard for those 3 pin plugs (4th photo) is positive wiring. So assuming the track has been wired to the standard it's posative
Hope that's some help, but I guess it's not the complete answer you'd like.

You might get replies from some other Slot.it users if you started a thread with Slot.it controller in the title. Threads titled "Avant slot Hammer M controller wiring." will most likely be read by those interested in Avant controllers.

very good point

In any case im reasonably happy with your confirmation of my thoughts. As far as I can remember the second cartridge was bought to use at a trans am race at pendles, and I would have only bought it if I needed positive rather than negative, as I already had 3.5 stereo jack to 3 pin adaptors for my parma eco's.

QUOTE (MSM @ 17 May 2015, 19:58) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I remember reading this thread when I was considering buying my Hammer M. I nearly abandoned the purchase, based solely on the utter confusion that the thread conveys.
I'm glad I didn't.
At the time of writing the Mighty Hammer has been my controller for nearly two years and I have been very pleased with it. Yes, it has its flaws, but if, as I believe, its main flaw is that its grasp exceeds its reach, then really it would be churlish to carp. It's not the best electronic throttle available, but it is the cheapest, and that's a big plus when one is just starting out in club racing

Hi MSM ~
The Avant Slot Hammer M is a good deal at the moment.
Would you know if it's considerably better than my Profesor Motor Platinum Controller?

There's more adjust-ability on the Avant Slot, but my *Pro-Mo* has a lovely action.
Cheers mate ~ Rk,

Erm, not sure what you mean, if you mean the image in post 20, it's still there for me.
Anyway, the definitive answer, for UK club racing using a 3 pin 2 amp plug is White to Live, Red to Earth and Black to Neutral.
