The first AVHORA 'Christmas Cracker 300' will be an oval track event for Magnatraction Chassis (using AVHORS rules) fitted with original Aurora AFX or AW (Not JL pull back type) vintage NASCAR/StockCar bodies. Bodies will be available on the day for use if you do not have one of your own.

The afternoon race will be the 'AVHORA team challenge' (format to be decided) Another oval race but this time for the Aurora G-Plus chassis fitted with an Open wheel body (see AVHORS rules)

I have a couple of spare magnatraction chassis people can borrow as well, and I could probably find a G+ if necessary.
Everyone welcome.

Ordered the Trophies for this 'Festive Special' meeting today.

We have decided to run 3 races on the Oval throughout the day :-

The 'Christmas Cracker 300' : Using Magnatraction NASCAR/Stockers.

The AVHORA 'Team Challenge' : Using the NASCARS again.

The 'Snowball Shootout' : Using the G+ Open Wheel rules.

Cheers Mart.

4 Weeks to go to this first ever AVHORA meeting.

There are 8 definate attendees, positive interest from another 5 regular racers and 3 others have indicated that the idea appeals to them.

The posibility of 16 racers finding the delights of no magnet Vintage HO Racing, for our first meeting is simply amazing!

For anyone thinking of coming along but does not have NASCAR bodies do not worry

We now have a very healthy supply of Original Aurora/AFX and AW NASCAR bodies for the 'Cracker 300' which can be loaned out for the day.

Cheers Mart.

Ok so IF I rock up with my G+ and this pancake thing I have with a light on it. I'm good to go?

They both have sponge tyres on at the moment, what tyres should I use and do I need to change the hubs?

The G+ rims are fine, though mine has Tyco rims with .422 silicones on it, my Magnatraction has Turbo rims with around .453 tyres, basically any single flanged hubs are legal (or flangeless)

Silicones seem to work best, I have tried new sponges but they just don't work as good.

I have also changed hubs to Tyco on the Magnatraction, with a tyre measuring .454, but I have left the original flangeless hub on the G+ with a tyre measuring .432.

If you are not sorted by the day, we will have plenty of stuff there to sort you out!

QUOTE (montoya1 @ 6 Dec 2011, 20:43) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>If people are changing wheels, why exclude the df ones? Nobody wants to lose a race over a thrown tyre, do they?

The magnatraction chassis does not generate enough sideway torsion to dislodge a rubber tyre, let alone a tight fitting silicone, the G+ is a little different though and I did have a silicone 'move' on the hub but not enough to come off, instead it pushed it in towards the body on the torsion loaded side not on the unloaded side.

Thus single flange wheels are fine.

The rules were set to take this and aesthetics into consideration!
