Toying with ideas for new layout, Would like to build circuit on base board with a bit of a slope. ie lower nearer to drivers stands then sloping up away from them.
This should improve visibility as well as giving a bit of releif (geographical kind!) in addition to the normal bridges. Has this been done before and does it work?

I had a HO track set on a table that was built on a slant. I used a model railroad technique of using crossmembers to lay the track. The track was a 5.5-ft by 12.5 ft. The lower left corner, southwest corner was at 2.5 ft. The northwest corner was at 3.5 ft. Going along the 12.5 ft the track raised one foot. So the southeast corner was 3.5 ft and the northeast was 4.5 ft. This track had great visibility. Even with mild scenery added you could see the entire racing surface. I used model railroad techniques and some tricks I learned in Theater design to make visibility the best possible.

This wonderful track exists only in memories, as it was the victim of burglary.
