The Bath slot club is closing but before they do they are having a retro meeting. It would fit in well wih the Early Bird Grand Prix.

There is to be a 1/32 retro meeting at the Bath club on Sunday January 2nd.
The classes are:
1/32 pre 1961 Gp
1/32 pre 1964 Sports and GT's
1/32 pre 1960 Gp ready to run only
Apart from the RTR class the others are to be run to the North London rules's which can be found in the "Vintage" section of Chris Frost's site.
The club address is:
Percy Boys Club
New King Street
Bath

John...I wasn't going to race, (not having a suitable car), just going down to see some old friends.

However, I must admit I am now a little tempted. What are the rules for this type of racing?.....I've got a fair selection of old motors/chassis etc so I might be able to knock something up together.

Regards

Alan
Alan,

Check Tony Condon's site http://uk.geocities.com/historicslot/

I'll be in attendance, so will a few of the Oaklands Park degenerates.

Just a reminder that the meeting is on Sunday hangover permitting.

Happy New Year.

I used to race at Bath over twenty years ago so I would like to go, so I will make it
I can.

I really enjoyed going to Bath it may have been 20 odd years ago since I last raced there but I drove straight to the club.

I really enjoyed seeing John Roche and John Secchi who showed me a really great Ferrari 250GTB early slot car I would love to own. I have one day to make a copy to go in the museum display. I could only stay about 30 minutes but it really wound back the years going there and it was a wonderful drive back thought Bristol to the coast and home.

Jeff
I'd love to see some of those cars. Does anyone have any photos from the event?
I had a good time despite mechanical gremlins. Maybe i should make it a New Years resolution to not leave car building to the last minute in order to allow time for testing

It was good to meet John Secchi at last and to catch up with Jeff and others.

there was a wide range of new and old stuff and close racing.

Coops Le Monstre ran well considering its mass and low power.

Chris Frost took some photos so hopefully some will appear on his site.

Next stop the Early Bird meeting after some repair work.

Like the Muppet I am I took my digital camera, memory card blanked and batteries recharged in anticipation then forgot all about it and left it at the bottom of my slotbox.

A fun meeting all in all. The formbook for Early Bird regarding Cartrix Merc versus Scalex Maser/Vanwall suggests the wider track of the former gives it a big advantage. Most of the Scalex cars got heavier and heavier as the RTR heats went on.

Hi All
Happy new year to you all.
Good meeting as Coopdevil said
, had hoped that a few more forum members would have turned up to support the event
but being only a few days from the new year i suppose its understandable.
Gave me a chance to stretch the legs of the Early Bird cars and to see how my MRRC 3 pole Merc 154 RTR fare's against the other RTR's that i expect to see at Wolverhampton.
Cheers

.............and how did it do?
Not bad at all Phil.
The Cartrix Merc's were the one's to beat, they had plenty of "grunt" and handled quite well but as the grip started to build up on the track they were catchable and i managed to finish 2nd on the same lap to one in the final, i had been leading for most of the 30 laps but dropped it several times in succession to loose the lead.
I must admit that i was slightly cheating as i had double pole plates fitted, these will have to come off for Wolverhampton so i will not have the motor performance i had at Bath but will give me a lighter car.
