My first exposure to Super V8's was on the playstation TOCA 2 racing game. I thought Bathhurst was a made up track, till I saw pictures of the real course. It has to be nuts going through that down hill twisting sections, before the last long straight. The speed channel is carrying it in the U.S. this winter and I am really enjoying it. Looks like great racing and beats the hell out of watching Nastycars going around in circles. I watched the race at Eastern creek in the rain this weekend, great stuff. To bad the Holden (Pontiac GTO) is doing bad in sales here, I will hate to see it go. The first car I bought my daughter was an Aussie car (Mercury Capri) nice little convertable, but no guts.

At Bathurst the hill doesn't come across on TV any where near as steep as it actually is.

V8 SC series is one of the best. Spent countless hours as a younger lad building Mt Panorama (rather badly) out of cardboard for Micro Machines.

Cruizbz, the circuit is usually a normal bit of road so I got to drive around it in my road car albiet at 60kph and it's intimidating.

At the top of the mountain is Skyline from which you can see forever - not that the guys have a chance to look I guess. Down the hill from there seems very steep and worrying even at 60k. Admittedly they have more road to work with but at the "dipper" you seem to be driving merrily along then driving 90 degrees away from it 6 - 8 foot down almost instantly with your stomach still up there going on the original direction.

I'd always watched bathurst before that but that's when I realised they're lunatics.
