Hi everybody!

I´ve driven many race tracks on computer simulation (V8 touring cars, MB truck racing, other games....) and in my opinion Bathurst gives you one of the best racing experiences. Combination of straigths and curves, elevation and descent feels just right on this track. I´m now planning to build myself a Bathurst slotcar track. Could someone recommend a good resource where I can find more info about Bathurst track. Any ozzies out there?

Regards

There is a new version of "Race Driver" (aka V8 Supercars in Australia) for Xbox and PS2 coming out with an updated Bathurst that apparently makes the transition from Skyline through "The Dipper" to Forrest's Elbow a bit closer to the gut wrenching drop that it is in real life.

Link to National Motor Racing Museum at Mount Panorama

Cheers

Hi!

Didn´t know that there´s a new version of V8 coming for xbox. It´s just that I´m so used to driving with keyboard that it´s impossible to try xbox controller. Well, maybe a new version of V8 could be a good reason to invest in xbox and try to learn how to drive with its controller.

Dipper to Forrest´s elbow is really amazing turn where you turn left downhill. It´s great if new V8 has captured the feeling even better.

Race Driver 2 it is called.

Trouble is, no flipping PS2 version! Hopefully they'l' do an 'x-box only' splinter cell goof on it and release it anyway.

On a more hilarious note I was taking a Mitsubishi Mirage round Bathurst on the original Race Driver, only to oversteer coming out of the dipper, straight into the rocks on the left just before Forest Elbow. Up goes the car, performs an absolutely perfect (no word of a lie) 360 degree backflip before landing back on my wheels at a fairly usual speed to take the corner. I wish I could have saved that replay...

I have the game you talk of: Toca Race Driver 2 on XBox. Quality game with loads of cars. Ranging from Bowler Land Rovers to Yankie Hot Rods.

Quite tough, but a good game. Online play makes it more fun too.

Hi lordjw

I had a Bathurst (or Mt Panorama) track for the GP3/GP4 PC game.

This web page
http://www.grandprixgames.org/?page=downlo...orsoftw&u_id=20
has the track file as part of a package of tracks. This site has a search engine to find bathurst and other stuff. If you downloaded the track file and the track editor program (very small), you can open the track file and see all the elevation changes etc in pretty accurate detail.

I used to have them, but I'm sure they're not tooooo huge as I downloaded them on a slow dial up modem years ago when I was into GP3 racing over the net.

You could have a look here http://www.bobjanetmarts1000.com.au/index.cfm?page=home to see what us Aussies like to see at "the mountain"

Hi !

Thanks for links. Using track editor is really nice idea, bigredralph. Hope it works without the game. I´ve driven V8 Challenge by EASports. I like older games, since I can run them on full detail and display card still has power to spare. Everything goes smoothly with 2GHz machine with basic Geforce4. I Must confess that I´m not a fan of xbox becouse of its controller.

Oops! This became a gaming forum now!

Hi!

Reviving my old thread just to remind any new Aussie members that I am still gathering info about Bathurst.

Just noticed in another thread that "Was" is constructing this track. Could you please post some pictures.

Cheers

Hey Monaro, I took that map there that you gave me & messed with it slightly (mostly to make the chase more daunting and using some "Outer" curves going in & look for longer straights). Had just bought the Racedriver game too for added rev-head-ism...

...and after getting it sorted found my boys (stepsons) were away with their dad on race-day.

I think I'll be setting it up for Indy weekend!

Hi!

Thanks for replies. Wow, 1600m/32=50meters. I'll have to build a house around the track. Maybe that´s not very practical. I am fascinated by Bathurst elevation and descent. All the other tracks are so d**n flat.

Cheers!

Hi!

Nice to see this old thread again. Thanks for the trackplans. Space is always a problem. I live in capital city region and rental fees are quite high. To practice my trackbuilding skills I participated in building a replica of the Keimola race track. This track has some elevation and descent as well, but not as much as Mt. Panorama (Bathurst) has. Pictures below from 1:32 Keimola, Scalextric Sport 4-lane. Pictures courtecy of Juha Mänty.

Cheers!
