Here are some updated photos of my Museum here in Houston Texas. I was changing some of the lighting. I wish I could include it all but you get a sense of it at least. There are over 7,000 cars,760 sets, books, catalogs, buildings, figures, etc. The largest collection of pre 1960 sets and cars in the world.
WOW!!!! No wonder you know more than most about vintage cars, tracks ect. I ad no idea you had a museum I bet people who visit are in there for most of the day I know I would be. Thanks for showing its an amazing collection.
Bernard - thanks for taking the time and sharing your unbelievable collection - taken the liberty of Pinning the thread as I believe it deserves it thoroughly.....
Thanks and happy new year ! Feel free if you have a question or want a closer lookup. There is a ton of stuff I didn't photograph. Come visit me down here in the Lone Star State if you are in the neighborhood.
Even for one already knowing how huge a collection you have, the pictures are amazing. Would spend not hours, but days or weeks looking... Congratulations Bernd
Watching Bernard's museum's pictures makes one's eyeballs to rotate in figure-8 motion, that can be harmful to your vision!
It is truly a fantastic collection, so eclectic as well as historically important for the history of our hobby.
We are lucky that there are a few guys so passionate at devoting both a sizeable amount of their cash as well as huge amount of time, so that others can also enjoy it.
A question Bernard with a collection as large as yours how do you make sure the tyres do not flat spot or get reaction to the glass shelves? I do not see any blocks under the cars that raises them above the glass shelves thus not making contact. The second question is dust. Have you any special tricks for dealing with both of these issues that affect us collectors?.
Thanks everyone ! Many of the cars are in glass cabinets and many in plastic boxes. But some are not and they are dusted once a week including the boxes and buildings ,etc. If anyone wants a closeup let me know there is also a lot not in the photos. Philippe thanks for the kind words.
Well!
Bernard, I knew you had a large collection, but it's difficult to comprehend until you see it in pictures.
I have hundreds of cars, new and old, and quite a few accessories, but mostly what would be considered "European " brands. Having looked at all the pictures I can see many things that have passed through my hands over the last 55 years "playing" with slotcars, and quite a few I'd like to own
However, I could only recognise one item (I didn't zoom the images on my tablet screen) which currently resides in my collection......the Scalextric Dunlop Crosswalk. I find that quite humbling.
I did however find Sponge Bob, and his pal!
Thank you so much for sharing the pictures. If I make it to the states before my dotage, I'll make sure to pay you a visit.
