hi !!

for those who had already read about me, you know that i'm fond of the DAVIC system!

i have to say that i just discover a new french digital track prototype which have a lot of good points!

in fact it's not a digital system for cars, but much more for track :
this system automatically make your car taking the best line on the track : that means that you need a changing line (like the scalex one) in each corner

as in formula one, all cars will take the same line, and when the second will be just behind the fisrt, changing line will make the second car going on the second track : this is automatic, no collision will be possible, braking and aspiration will be realistic and when the overtaking will be ok the both cars will come back one the best line.

there are a lot of advantage :
all digital cars or system are usable with this system (DAvic, scalex, scx, jouef Z...)
no button needed to change line
very realistic race
no collision

some restrictions :
i thing a 2 lines track is needed
you will need a digital system to use this
you need to use special corner for a lot of corner on your track

if the corner are special, it's possible to use scalex, scx, ou other track for the rest of the track

You think i'm dreaming or i'm joking!?!

the inventor is a french one, David, and he asked me to put his system description on my site :
www.miniend.fr.st
"systemes digitaux"
"Best line slot track"

another link :
direct link

you'll find a video link at the end of the article too

if you what to contact the inventor, use the forum on my site (french one) i'll translate if there are english vocabulary problems

tell us what you think about it !!!

Hi, elicend!

Oh! ... You french. Interesting stuff, but always in french. It's nice to see enthusiastic people who are trying to develop and promote the hobby.

Personally I would stick to the good old KISS rule. I don't like the idea that computer controls my racing. I want to decide by myself when to overtake. Best driving lines for everyone is a nice idea though.

Video not downloading.

It all looks good, but it's all theoretical. It would be nice to see an actual track. I wonder if Scalextric would have something to say about it? It looks very similar to their system.

Hello everybody,

my english is horrible, I have learned it at french school

The BEST LANE is visible on my site http://sillage.racing.free.fr

It's only an automaticale lane changing system, all cars are usable, you have just to add an analogic or digital chip in to play on it.

It can take toice looks : modular like in the little movie, 50 differents tracks are possible to build with the 22 modules. Or reproduce on scale an existant track.

The most difference with the other systems (unless the xswitch) is that you always take the cross over.

The break out is automatic because the ideal racing line enforce to put one or two switchings in all corners. It's impossible to break out manualy, it's too fast. But you don't break out on all switchings, just on interestings switching to overtake.

Everybody how play on it are very enjoy. The novice like the good drivers because of the big resemblance with real races.

thanks for your comments, they are very important to me to develop my system.

Bonjour David,
so this is how your BLST looks : very nice indeed !!!

Slotforum members might like to know that our two systems were developed independently, with a common acquaintance (Gerard Caupene) keeping us informed just on the basics. But we both came to similar conclusions : LCs are best in a turn, and you normally change lane, unless you want to overtake - we even selected Montmelo' as the "ideal" track !!

Do keep us posted on how it develops - are you managing to get the electronics from David (Laurent) or are you waiting for Scalextric like me ? Well, in your case SCX would be OK, except there's no brake

Ciao

Hi blst !

Very impressive! Very very good job!
Nice touch providing the video codec in your web page as well.
I presume that you will be marketing your nice track to racing clubs? Where can we see your track in action, and when?

Julius

PS.
xlot, I'm following eagerly that other thread on your track progress

thanks Beppe

it's too dificulte for me to write in english, the last reply spent me one hour. I know that you speak very well in french, and another languages too

come on french forum of elicend, I will leave you to translate in english for the slotforum.

like you, I build a new track. like you, I need a Davic power for my cars. and we can say that we have the same idea at the same time. But I don't want any competition with you. I have taked the decision that the BLST is free (no patent). I can't build and sell myself.

The modular system was build to be solde to NINCO. But they not replyed.

sorry for my english, come and speak french on elicend site.

Hi blst!

Your english is good, don't be too modest. It would be nice having you write here at SlotForum, since here you get more readers and more feedback on your system. Please keep writing!

Yes, definitely!
The more information and communication we have here, the better it is for everyone.
We have people from many countries here and I'm sure we can always find translations and explanations for difficult phrases.

David,

I finally managed to see the clip - congratulations, it beats anything seen so far !!!

My understanding is that the LCs are triggered by the presence of a car on certain segments, as indicated by current draw - so the digital package must only take care of car speed and lap counting - which also means that the number of digital "messages" is halved (no lane change message) and the maximum number of cars could double - say a 24h race with 30 cars !!

Now, the obvious question is : won't so many LCs drive the cost up ?

Bravo! Bravo! Very ingenius! It is so great and interesting to see this age-old hobby getting this kind of attention and creative thinking applied to it.

( See new patent for Mattel regarding more realistic slot racing: http://patimg2.uspto.gov/.piw?Docid=066889...ey=64C3440FADAB )

I would hope that such ingenuity will continue even though the big companies have a way of shutting down creative thinking just so that all the money will be diverted to them.

This is a great track and a great step in advancing the hobby to the next level. I would go so far as to say that this kind of racing is a different kind of racing from that which became popular in the 60-70s. Model car racers are desirous of an experience which rivals the detail and realism of their new cars. This gets us so much closer.

Excellent work!!

thanks Maltese,

I want to reply to Beppe. Your understandings are good. There is no LC data on rail. Your conclusions are right.

The cost now.

electronic is analogic, solenoid is standard, needle is cut in alu angle and it keep electrical continuity in the two positions because of the solenoid.

it's a small-scale production. materials are cheap but time to build is expensif.

hi

i was on WE that's why i didn't participate

David, i'll put your new video on the page quickly, i think it's better that the first one

i'll check for the first videos too... some can't DL it???

if fact i want to say that it's not one more digital system, because you'll need one to make this system working, but it's a very interesting add on

Hi Guys,

This best line system is the best I've seen so far and I'm wondering why the big manufacturers didn't think of this before.

It is all good and well to be able to change lanes, but try to do this during a long stint and I guarantee concentration problems and many accidents as a consequence.

This BL-system allows you to focus on racing and like in real racing your car will follow the ideal racing line when possible.

Moreover it is compatible with all types of cars, so you can use older models from any brand, so there again it beats the current digital market...

Durability and costs are another matter to be looked into, but if digital is to have a chance this is the way to go !

Cheers,

Yves
