I'm just starting to build my first dedicated slot car table and am going to use some plastic carpet to simulate grass. I was hoping for some advice for the best way to attach the carpet to some 5/8" thick wood board. I expect staples are the way forward but any suggestions would be appreciated!

The bottom of most synthetic grass carpets is quite tacky and it will stay in place with no more than its own weight. If you are cutting out a space for the track sections so that the track is flush with the grass, try gluing the carpet in place. Home centers sell an adhesive to do that.
