Does anyone have a plan or tips for building a 16'x5' (approx) frame to mount a Scaley track? I have a skinny 20' long track mounted on MDF at the back of my garage but I want to be able to swing a more complex layout down from the ceiling (need to fit a couple of 1:1 cars in as well).

Congratulations to all on a great forum

Cheers

Charles, the model railroaders have been discussing this problem for years. Check at your local MR shop, where you should find several titles addressing benchwork for train layouts. Or Google on strings such as "building model railroading benchwork".

The best known is probably the L-girder system developed by the late Linn Wescott, a former editor of Model Railroading magazine. There are several books on this style of benchwork construction alone.
