Hey Cool - I love the space you've jagged - what's that - thirty by 15 feet? BRILLIANT!!

I've been planning a circuit using a double garage where I can build Brands Hatch. While I've designed it in scaley track I actually want to make a "Digital" home circuit using scaly track or routed with magnetic tape for the road course part (for my Le Mans stuff) and routed with a copper tape for the infield rallycross parts (for my son's rally cars). That'd give me the 'feel' of rally cross & strikes me a so sexy I could marry it (as long as my wife let me
)

It would probably fit nicely in the middle of the loft leaving room for pits & scenery if that's your bag. I can send you a drawing off "tracker" but can't post it as a picture as I've not had any luck finding a suitable host in Australia. (although as an aside if any Aussies have any hints I'd appreciate them..)

October 9th 2004, marks the day where a slight set back occurs to the development of My slot track in my loft.. If you have read this thread, from top to bottom, you would have guaged from my timing plan, that I hinted to, that the house dhould be just about built and well, its almost there. Build completion and handover was set to 29th October.
With that being the case, I wnt to help a friend put in a kitchen this morning, and on the way back, I was planning to run into Pendle Slot, and put in my order for all the track, and digital I required.
I was really. really stoked at the prospect, and was in a jolly mood. As I was approaching the end of the M65, only 10 mins from Pendle Slot, my mobile phone rang. I found a place to pull over, and answered it.
It was the contractor who was building my house. The phone call started out. pretty normal. "how are you? Fine... Blah blah blah" The young lady, then asked if I was sitting down. Quite jolly, I said "yeah - Im in the car - Ill be down to see you later, the usual saturday visit." "ooohh" she replied, "you may want to bring some overalls and a shovel" Bemused, I chuckled and asked why.
"Bit of a long story, but Ill give it to you straight. Ive just arrived on site, and the fire brigade were just leaving. Seems there was a fire last night in your garage, and well... its not pretty."
Ive just got back, seems its was an electrical fault, in the main juction box, but the fire investigation services are still on site. They havent ruled out totally yet that it wasnt deliberate. Yje roof on the garage is burnt away, the grarage door is broken and twisted with the heat. theres burns marks all the way up the side and front of the house, theres heat, smoke and water damage through out. Its one hell of a mess.

So, drinking a large vodka, and rolling a large cigerette, Im quite calm,
but terrible frustrated and gutted... (a bit like the garage), Looks like the loft slot track goes on the back burner (another horrible punn....).
Gotta keep my chin up, ill keep you guys informed of developments, I dont expect to see much more this side of christmas. I never did get to Pendle...

Cheers

Wow, CoolS,

Really sorry to hear about the fire. God's in control, though, better it happened now than after you moved in.

I think this is a good reason to just go by a big set you like and set it up on the floor where you're living now.

Sorry to hear of your bad news mate.

I agree though, cheer yourself up and go buy a big set anyway to keep you going for the time being. Any idea how much of the place is salvagable?

Did you look into using alternative insulation? If you can do becuase my loft is taking a while and I'm still not convinced the fibres will go once its finished.

Keep us informed of you get on mate. Keep your chin up!

Thanks for the kind words...

I cant get a good pic of the actual damage - due to the house not being declared safe yet. Once a structural engineer and site safety inspector has been on site - which should be today - I will be allowed a little closer.

The damage is mainly to the far side wall of the garage - the garage roof - and the main supporting wall to the far side of the house.

The fire services have said, that the fire started in the garage - possibly in the boiler vent duct, possibly a firework. The bolier, which was only fitted Friday, has then ben thrown accros the garage, removing the door from its hinges, and leaving the gas main burning.... Seems some kids brok in through the not quite fitted side door to the gargae. There is smoke damage through the house.

However there is good news, the contracter feels they can pull down all the damage and get it replaced on time (or realatively on time).

So all in all, gotta wait and see. Loft insulation, Ill deal with that in good time. Ive just gotta hope and pray, that the house is structurally sound, and we can move in.

No one was hurt, no one was injured - which is the man thing. The house can be rebuilt.

Cheers and thanks
