Just to confirm that we are still running the original 6 classes this week. Despite what the little fixture lists say, the first night being cancelled due to the weather means we carry on for one more meeting and the new classes (whatever they are) will start on the 18th of March.

OK! Diplomatic negotiations were a success and the next set of classes are confirmed as;
  1. Hornby GT
  2. Sub 2-litre Saloons
  3. Fly GT
  4. 50's GP
  5. JWRC/SS1600
  6. 60's Italian Supercars

Dates are

18th March
1st, 15th, & 29th April

Notes

Fly GT excludes Racer versions.
50's GP is just Cartrix and recent Hornby models only.
JWRC/SS1600 is just for SCX or NC1 powered cars.

Can anybody think of anything RTR other than 250GTO and Muira for the last class? I know Fly have got an Alfa TZ coming, but don't think it will be out in this time frame.

Geoff didn't specify.

At first I assumed it would be 60's because of his dominant Cortina, but then I remembered his dominant Sierra Cosworth!

And he specified 60's Under 1.6 litre before for the Cortina.

Aston Martin DBR1
Aston Martin DB4 GT
Austin-Healey 3000 hardtop
Chevrolet Corvette (the Carrera one)
Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta
Ferrari 250 GTO
Ferrari 250 GTO/LM
Ferrari 250 LM
Ferrari 275 GTB

Ferrari 250P
Ferrari 275P
Ferrari 330P
Ford GT40
Ford GT40 MkII
Jaguar E-type
Porsche 904

There were others, but I don't think there are slot car equivalents of them.
As you can see, the Ferrari P4 and Mirage Ford are not in period. That's two "jelly moulds" we won't be seeing!

Nice variety in that class there, Peter.

Did anybody happen to pick up the scoresheet on Thursday night?

It doesn't appear to be in any of the cases I brought with me, but I can't understand why.

I went back down this afternoon thinking I may have left it on the clipboard, but it's not there. Thankfully the scoreboard had not been cleared, but of course the last class never gets added to it, so total scores are missing.

I remember Geoff and I tied in second place on 74 points and Kev got 60 as I remarked that it was the same as he got last time. I think Peter won with 86, but that leaves 7 others missing!

I seem to remember Scott was comfortably 4th - I think with 67. That also fits with the fact that he was 9 points ahead of Les going into the last class. So taking that it was Brian last in that run of consecutive scores, I'll be able to work out what each of them got in the last class, then it's just a case of dividing what's left of the 110 points for that class between Oscar & Trigger.

Be interesting to see how close I was if the scoresheet does turn up.

Dates for the new classes are

13th & 27th May
10th & 24th June

2wd rally is any 2wd slot model of a 2wd rally car in standard form.
Classic SCX rally is pre 90
The 60's LeMans class is any make from the eligible list given by Peter
70/80 Hornby F1 is pretty obvious
50's GP is any make
Classic American Saloons is any make and Pre '75

Will check this week, but I strongly suspect this will be an "open" class as Brian's pick actually says "50's F1 (any)". So you should be OK.

QUOTE The following is a list of cars that are eligible for the forthcoming Le Mans 1961-65 class:

Peter,

I've done a bit of checking on this class - your slip says 61-66 by the way.

Aston DB4 GT - the only ones I can find entered in that period were Zagatos or Project 212/4/5. But that only rules out the old pin guide Scalextric car so no great loss.

The one Corvette entered in the specified period was a C1 - a la Ninco not Carrera - but it was a later quad headlamp version, so up to you whether they get a run.

Don't know of an RTR slot model of a 275GTB - I wish there was!

The 911 made it's first appearance at LeMans in 66, perhaps the proper 911 Fly car can be used. But not the later, wide bodied cars that most other slot car companies have done.

And Sandy, I checked with Brian and quite surprisingly, he said standard RTR cars only for the 50's GP class. So the Noble Industries specials will have to wait until you pick the class.

I have got to say "no" to the Corvette C1, if only to avoid being tempted to run my all-conquering Ninco. The Porshe 911 is a bit iffy - I think the earliest Fly version is of the 1968 car, although I could well be wrong. I don't know a lot about slot cars, as evidenced by my inclusion of the Ferrari 275GTB!

PS. Any news on the auction of Martin's collection? Who won what?

I will have to get back to the few people with identical offers, then give Martin the total figure, and hopefully start handing out the cars towards the end of this week.

I was going to ask about the early 60s' Revell 'vette but you and p-button have answered my question. I'm just going to have to come for the next picking class so that some of my exotica - it's all relative - get a run! It would be nice to get out of standard RTR and50s' time warp for GP. See you this Thursday, I hope.
