Bought an old Scalextric Brab recently. My plan was to paint it in white as per the 1:1, but discovered I was out of white paint. Ne'er mind. As I've already got a white 'un, I splattered it with acrylic sage green. Yes, it's very wrong but anything (almost) must be better than 'plastic' yellow.

Anyhow, a few pics of an old Scalextric car that might ride again soon.

Now painted in sage green. If it looks 'orrible when it's finished, I'll strip it and paint it in its authentic colours.

Ah, Ken, what a thought, eh! Whitewalls on a BT44. Quite brilliant. I can think of a number of other accoutrements that might raise eyebrows in an Effing 1 paddock...

Coming on a bit. Black bits painted and in the process of drying. Nope, it isn't right in green, but it's an improvement on the original aesthetic.

Another couple of Brabs I prepared earlier. Both are without their airboxes, naturally. Thanks to 'urethanes they go exceptionally well.

A Brescia Bugatti and Isotta-Fraschini Special. Both have whitewall tyres.

Just numerals and transfers to go - I think.

Possibly finished apart from painting the plug leads with a paperclip when there's more light.

Thanks, Matthew. I tend to lean more to the trad national colours for racing cars as I was brought up in an era that hadn't fully embraced commercial sponsorship.

Thanks, Grumpy. Polyurethane tyres help enormously in quelling the tendency of these cars towards naughtiness in corners.

A 77 in trad green and yellow is a project you really should do, Pat. It would look rather wonderful. I did one a couple of years ago in black (without gold/beige), but you've given me an idea, fools that we are...
