Most of them on my modest fleet of 23 cars (Scalextric, SCX and a couple of AutoArt) need replacing so I guess I need to get a roll of the stuff. I've seen it advertised for a couple of pound per metre [ http://www.copperbraid.co.uk/slot_car.php ] but I don't know how good it is.

Are all braids roughly the same or are some better than others?

I don't need super-niche competition stuff, it is just for rug racing with the kids.

Copperbraid is a good product. I use both types at home and for club racing. Never had a problem.

I use the tinned ones in a pack of 50 from LDD. IIRC the last lot I got were £4:00 + free p&p.

I have used their braid in a 24 hour race at GT Raceway a few years ago

Well we never changed them and by the looks of them at the end it could have gone on at least another 24 hours no problem

I would recomend them

I also use the Slot.it copper braid as this is good

Ninco or Scalextric are shocking don't even think of using them

Harry - I think you found the best source. I use the copperbraid.co.UK product and it does last longer. It works well in Scales quick change plates if you cut it to 40mm, make both bits that point down the same length and fold them both backwards with the rear ones slightly splayed.
