Q
Most however, have been adequate for short-term toy use, but showed to be quite unsuitable for higher-reliability situations. Most issues are focussed around loss of car ID, however the chips also had a tendency to burst into high-speed mode and launch the car off the track, totally out of control.
This is what i found on this site ElectricImages.co.nz

It describe the problem i have.
Means it that they sold me old decoders bought theme last mounth.
And how to fix it.
Kindly regards Jane

it sounds like a commom problem with the older spec digital chips, if u do a search a thread called "DPR - the solution", it will tell u all about the prob and how to cure it. i dunno how, but someone will prob be able to put a link on here to make it easier to find for u.
its a simple enough fix, just have to insulate the track cross overs a tad more with some enamel paint or electrical insulation tape.

Hi Jane,

These are the main versions of the DPR chipset around. RevF is not the most well behaved of the two and it sounds as though you have these.

When the braids of the car cross on dead parts of the track, such as XLC and CLC lane changers, they tend to short-circuit across the track pieces. Rikorocket came up with a modification to fix this using tape/nail polish/paint. Scalextric now manufacture modified XLC track pieces to avoid this.

There are 3/4 things that you can do:
1 - mask off your track as per Rikorockets' cunning plan,
2 - moan like hell to your supplier,
3 - have the firmware changed on your chip,
4 - sell the chips on.
