I use dental floss wrapped single layer around the "socket", sometimes drilling holes in the "webs" to allow full wrap.
Then drip superglue onto the "dental floss". The sg wicks into the DF and provides a thin but strong re-enforcement.
Other methods include the use of fine fuse wire wrap, or even armature re-wind wire, tougher than fine fuse wire, but the concept is the same.
One needs to repair and re-enforce the guide socket but with minimal bulk.
