Hi All,

At our local Slot Car Club, we have an SSD layout and are working on a device to ID cars independently from the track. This is both for the convenience when a member wishes to put a car on track so that everyone else doesn't have to stop and remove theirs and also for ID loss situations so that racing can stop whilst the car is re-ID'd to continue racing.

We have a couple of guys with the skills and knowledge to create this device although so far testing the prototype, when a car is hooked up to it the rear wheels just spin and it's ID isn't changed.

I was asked to post here to see if anyone can help. Here are a few outputs in binary if anyone else can verify whether they are correct or not.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Hi
There are several people that would be interested in something like this, are you using a Arduino board ?

Hi Ade,

I didn't build it so I am not entirely sure how it is made but will find out.

Hi
If you could Damon that would be great, there are several Arduino Guru on here and a solution hopefully would not be far away, car id without pb would be so useful and cheaper.

Yeah. This would be nice. Right now I use a 4 car PB, but you are limited to 4 cars to program. I posted about doing something like this a while ago, but the programming was beyond my skill level. Looking forward to see what you come up with.

I've just had the word, the hardware is based on an arduino with h-bridge shield add on board.

Hi Damien,

There must be someone on here who could help out. A cheap car programmer has been mentioned several times but afaik, no-one has posted a solution yet.

Have your guys seen the old Ian Harding/MIH/ElectricImages info? The website is broken now but there are some history pages still accessible with direct links.

This page, >link , has a firmware program for a DIY powerbase. It's double-dutch to me, but I guess there is some code in there which controls car programming, or at least gives some clues

It takes a while to open and you may need to try a couple of times. When it appears, click on the firmware tab.

Edit: There's another one >here . click on the "packet format" tab

Btw, the sub-links won't work. You would need a direct link to the old version of the page. (some here)

Great shop & videos by the way. Great to see such enthusiasm.

Chris99, very helpful. I will pass those links on to our brains trust. I imagine they have already seen them though.
