Hi Chaps,
I notice a power loss to the cars when changing from Digital to Analogue mode on the C 7042 powerbase.

I am using the same controller and the same car (a Digital chipped Porshe) I know that the brakes are different, but the car is significantly slower on the straights, or even when you just rev it up. I have checked the power scale and it is on 100%.
I can do a lap in Analogue in just over 3 secs, and then only change the powerbase to Digital, and I can get 2.7 secs, significantly faster !

Is this usual, or am I missing something?

Thanks for any input.

Cheers Martin

hi
you can notice this difference if you place a chipped car on a normal analouge track,i think it is down to a slightly lower voltage to the motor as the chip uses some of the available power.???

I think power loss is the wrong term, the system although it uses the same components the way they operate is different, PWM power instead of rectified AC. I would go with BigBird though, try the same car with the DPR plug changed for a blank. I'll bet you get closer to 2.7 seconds. But regardless the power in analogue mode will be what you get. If you want faster do the variable voltage mod.

Hi,

I just took out the Digital Chip to see if that is the bit draining power, and guess what........... it was !! Full power to the car, and a faster than 2.7 secs lap, due to the less sudden braking.

Thanks for the help, I was a bit puzzled, it s is a shame that it does that, my kids like to swap between cars almost per lap. Still, never mind the system is great anyway.

Cheers for the help.

Good, that clears that up then. Personally I use analogue mode for analogue cars, if I'm going to run a digital car I always switch to digital so that I get my brakes back.

RikoRocket,
Maybe add a link to the APB Variable voltage mod to your signature so it is easier to find.

Cheers!
