Slightly off topic, does anybody know if I am safe to use Superglue remover to loosen my MkII Escort spotlights? I want to take them out for racing as a high speed impact with a crashed car will see them snap for sure.

I don't think I can use hot water as the leds are attached to the body.

nail glue is not superglue, otherwise you,d have a million lawsuits from women who have stuck their fingers together. its good for glueing tyres because it allows enough time to turn them round and make sure the tyres are seated right, before the glue grabs. john.

Tyres that have been superglued can also be removed by putting them in the oven at 180C for around 8 mins. It makes the glue go brittle so they can be cracked of the rims.*** disclaimer*** I have not used this slot car wheels, but I have used it on1/10th radio control racing buggy wheels. It is much quicker than soaking acetone. But it does discolour the wheel a bit.

racing snake if the spotlight are attached seperately to the body, just dremel the little tabs flat, on the inside of the body. they,re usually melted on, then use some thing pointed to push them out. you can then push them back in for display. john

I took mine off by scraping the inside of the shell with a scalpel until they were loose enough to push out - similar to Stoner, really.

I did the same to my Audi quattro gr4, and with the light pod on my Sainz Focus. I'm trying to keep my collection as auxilliary light free as I can.
