Nice review Astro! Great pictures too!

I want the car no mather what... It looks great!

but...

I think I won't race very much... In the FIA GT class... there are much better cars I think... The Fly Vipers (I have two of them... and they are screaming fast, they hold the track record!), Fly or Ninco BMW M3GTR's, Fly Saleen...

Ok I don't really allways need the faster car, but If you lose points again and again in that class, I'll think everybody would take an other car for the next race... And our FIA GT Racers are not exactly sprint races... We race 120 laps, or 45 minutes (45 min x 32 scale is a perfect 24 hours)... so If you see yourself lose time in every corner, where the others can brake a full trackpiece later... you will go mad... I know I will...

And I also have a quite twisty home track, so I'll have the same problems Astro has... What can we do about it? Lighten the car? Take out the switch? Other gearing? Or is it the motor? Please tell me...

But one thing is for sure... I'm going to check the slot-shop on friday!

cheers

Gunther

Excellent review!
Could this be the first Carrera Release I crave???

I have a Slot.It HRS chassis awaiting which ever livery I end up buying and the new Overdrive conversion kit will sort out the non permanent light problem.

I find it interesting that the interior is sparse and not full depth with this car, given their previous attention to detail in this area (Enzo/ Vanquish et al) Personally I think the detail is less of an issue than handling and performance so maybe they are listening to the commentrs from the addicts

Thanks for the kind words, glad you all found it imfortaive and useful!

Mclaren - I saddly lack the ability to drive cars without magnets, and do not have access to routed tracks, so I will leave such experiments to people who know what they are talking about.

tDI - for better acceleration, I expect the simplest change would be the gearing, and the easiest part to change would be the pinion. Anyone know a suitable replacement which would mesh nicely with the existing crown?

Crikey, is the car really that fast?!!!

Is that run in comparison to a Fly Racer motor Viper (in the picutre)? If so the often berated Carrera E200 motor is clearly a stunning piece of kit; all that Carrera chassis weight plus two magnets and it goes like stink! That's amazing.

Mind you, my two Scalex Tuscans are nowhere close to that differential in lap time. Must be a layout design thing. Tuscans are 1.5 seconds slower than even an older Fly Viper over 65 feet on our layout. Was this a stock model, or a modified one?

Back to the point...Carrera have a winner

Great write-up,
its a shame that carrera cars are not as good as the others
performance wise . this model a real stunner (optically).
Is the Black/carbon version comming too?

fola - the black one is already out in the UK
Max - my 575 is very competive against my Fly Saleen and Fly C5R corvette. Doesn't stand a chance against the Oreca Viper, Lola B98, Scalextric TVR 400T or MG lola. It is as fast and beats various other cars from other eras and classes (and is slower than others!)

In other words, there are a few carefully chosen pairings that will work nicely, but as with any two randomly chosen slot cars, one will probably be faster if you are not careful!

I finally got mine on the track this weekend. Very impressive, but it lacks nippy acceleration. 'Brakes' appeared fine. Mind you, once it gets going it's a very fast car. I'd think it's probably suited to faster circuits, rather than twisty designs with short straights. Worked best with 25ohm controllers but fine with 45ohmers (I'd imagine this to be a bit of a magnet-bound slug with 60ohm Scalex Sports)
