Hi, just got my first 2 Carrera cars and having some difficulty running them consistently on my Scalex Sport track. I've heard one solution is to file the guide down on the Carrera cars as they're a but deeper than Scalex cars. Is this the case? Also I'm using the standard Power & Control with only one transformer (yes I know I should get two!). I'm presume going to a second transformer (1 per lane) would also help.

The carrera braids are set futher apart than the scalex ones also carrera cars run on the fron wheels so you may not be getting full contact bendthe braids down at the rear to impove contact and you will find they run ok .I ran a competition for 80 kids using 4 standard carrera cars on sport track with out any problem

The Carrera guide blade is too deep for Scalextric Classic track - you shouldn't have any problem on Sport track.

If you have got any Classic track, the alternative to filing the guide is to use the special replacement guide that Carrera make. If you need one, send me an email or pm with your address and I'll put one in the post to you.

As regards the performance problems, what cars have you got?

Do they have the old or new chassis?

I had a couple that wouldn't run either. The problem in the end
was my standard crappy scalextric controllers burning out and not
being able to move them !

I swapped to two Prof Motor controllers and now there fine , also tried them with
my Parma Controller (35 ohm) and they are fine with that - however with the
scalextric controllers they don't move !

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I played around with the braids and was able to get them to run consistently. Behave a bit differently (i.e. slower!) to the Scalextric cars I have (mostly American Classics) but they seem pretty comparable to my Monogram Shelby Cobra.

I recently have brought the new sauber(carrera) and i have ninco track and its absolutley awful, really unsmooth,

i cant control the speed, its super fast or slow,

any tips to make it easier to control.

i have tried removing the extra magnet, but have just read that the guide blade might be to big,

can any1 confirm this?

if so point me to somewhere where i can but new guide blades for carrera models.

Also any tips to make it better handling (eg new axel) i would appriciate the advice.

Thanks in andvance
