Hello everyone,

I recently purchased the Carrera 1954 Jaguar D-Type and I'm quite impressed with it. However I am running it on a Scalextric/SCX track and the car's pin seems to be deeper than the Scalextric slot. As a result the front wheels barely touch and the traction is poor. If I sand down the car's pin to a Scalextric car's size, will this solve my problem?

Thanks, Mark

Yes....that will solve the problem.

Or you could get some of the special guide blades that Carrera make for use on Scalextric Classic track. If you'd like some of the special guide blades, email me your postal address and I'll pop a couple in the post to you.

You do need to cut down the Bentley guide to run on Classic so I would guess the D would be the same.

Run the car, by hand, over a section of track. If you can feel a definite click, click, click then the guide is grounding out on the webbing under the slot - time to cut it back.

Seems I was typing as Jon was posting. And it looks like he has the answer.

I bought a Carrera Dodge Charger a few months ago and was also disappointed at first with its performance, like you using Scalextric/SCX track.

After some great advice from everyone here, i trimmed the guide pin and once the tyres hand been worn in it now performs quite well.

Good luck!
