Hi Guys

The video you are about to watch is a mock-up of the actual race we ran as it was way too hectic to get footage while the actual race was on.

Background
We run a weekly race day with 3 and sometimes 4 drivers running on 3 different Carrera Digital tracks which we rotate each week.
We normally run 12 races of 50 laps per race, all different classes.
We use Bruce's (b.yingling) great software with random events in place.

It was decided to get together, have a few drinks and run a full 1000 lap race with 3 cars and 6 drivers rotating at approx 10 min intervals.

The day was a blast!

The video was done by track owner Robbo who's team won on the day,
I am part of Team Clifford and came in second.

Thanks goes to Robbo for the venue and the great video.

Hope you enjoy.

Well done the video was great to watch, must have taken Robbo longer to edit the video than run the race.

Great looking track (day & night view) all you need is 3 more teams and you will have complete chaos.

Thanks for sharing.

This is great ! (and I even haven't watched the video yet), about the same I am planning to do so I am very interested how you did It, rules/regulations etc. I am planning a 2 hours SSD race with 3 cars and 6 drivers (like your race) and am looking to use Carrera cars. Any recommandations, obviously looking for similar performance cars. Tips for regulations, or things you would change If you did It a next time ? Many thanks !

Thanks for the comments - I will pass them on to Robbo

We chose the Carrera Peugeot's because they have great speed and handling which made it a little easier on the other guys who don't race all the time.

No rules/regulations, after all it was a bunch of mate out for a fun race.

The afternoon/evening was so much fun and ended up with a Bar-B-Q and then some more races and quite a lot of alcohol was consumed.

Would highly recommend you give a 1000 lap race a go.

Cheers

Does Robbo have a website with more info about his track?

The person named Robbo on this forum does not appear to be the same person... does not have the same layout.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Hi Sealevel

Robbo is not on any forum and doesn't have a website.

Robbo is a friend that I race with weekly
.
We race on 3 different tracks Mine "The Roller Coaster", Robbo's " Culmara Raceway" and a third track "Bells Speedway" that is currently under renovation so no video.

If you want any info on Robbo or his track then PM me and I will pass it on.

I included my track video.
PLEASE NOTE - I am no Cecil B D'Robbo.
I was just playing around with my iPad and an app called iMove.

OH FOR JOY IPS DRIVER ERROR yet again!

I found some photos of Robbo's track

The photos were taken prior to renovations but the layout hasn't changed.

Hope Robbo doesn't mind - oh well its done!

Terrific!
Many thanks, Scootcar50!

I was trying to get my head around the layout and these still pics really help.

BTW, on your Roller Coaster it appears like you have used the stock risers to hold the triple deck section. Is that correct? They look similar to the plastic Scalextric ones. Or did you design your own riser supports and use wood surface supports? From what I can see it looks like an all plastic assembly.

Which raised the question... how stable is the track IF it is indeed just the plastic riser supports between the levels?

Cheers!

No worries

If you check out the link to My Track below you will see that I used aluminum tube to support the levels.

The 3 levels are very stable.

If you need any more info on either track just ask

Thanks again, Scootcar50.

Are the aluminum pipes just supporting the track or is there a subbase under the track being supported by the tubes?

I am trying to find a light weight way to set mine up without a MDF or plywood support on the elevated section.

My working model is similar to Abcando's (his pics are on the same forum as your link above and on this one).

Cheers!

Hi Bigbird

All the sounds and effects are from the software.

Robbo uses a Mac and has professional editing software.

Cheers
