Carrera equipment has started trickling into the states; I assumed there would be a timer available. However, I dont see a timer even on German ebay!

When is the timer to be released?

Also, are there other solutions? Could a system used for timing and lapcounting in RC be adapted?

Timing for ProX will be in the shops within the next 4 weeks - and adaption to a standard timing system ist tricky as you've to measure the coded guides - 4 LDR/LED-combinations in the slot and decoding which car's passing. That's possible, but needs some work for the necessary circuit board - and timing of the whole thing is tricky....

..the other sets are cheaper and include a TIMING system?

Scalextric Digital - 2cars, 2 controllers, 2 lanechanges, 6,76m track 150£
SCX ref.1000 - 3cars, 3controllers, 4 lanechanges, lapcouter, 6,2m track with borders 250£
SCX ref.1001 - 2cars, 2controllers, 4 lanechanges, 5,5m track 150£
Carrera ProX - 2cars, 2controllers, 2 lanechanges, 6,9mtrack 150£

So - -which one is overpriced?
