Totally out of character for me, this XJ coupe arrived a few minutes ago, and all because of nostalgia. Some 20 years ago at Oulton Park, I watched a breathtaking battle 'tween an XJ and a 2-litre 911. The two protagonists battled it out for some 20 laps, both within touching distance of each other.

Entering the bend just before Deer Leap within sight of the chequered flag, they both overcooked it and limped back to the paddock with bent bodywork. A thrilling race that didn't end well.

Actually I wanted a NSR 720, but for 55€ the Benz simply bewitched me
