Some bright spark, mention no names, picked Cars from the Movies as his class for the next lot at Bolwextric. Worse still (not really
), his class was drawn as the last of the four for the last four meetings of this year! Guess I should expect it after trying to make the club democratic! After all the moaning had died down, we got to discussing how we could decide what was eligible for the class. Early thoughts were that it had to be a car that featured in a film ( so it's no good me looking for a film with a BMW M1 parked in the background
).

So I appeal to you all to come up with instances of RTR slot cars that fit the criteria of this class. We have a general rule that classes are not allowed to be livery specific, so any Pink Kar Beetle is fine, as Herbie was that sort of car, if you get my drift!

Immediate ones that sprang to mind were;

Beetle (Herbie)
Mini (Italian Job-first and sequel)
Batmobile
Gran Torino (Starsky & Hutch)
Aston DB5 & Vanquish (James Bond)

All cars where an RTR slot car is available.

So! Any other suggestions?

And what is the model of car used in Days Of Thunder? LeMans? That carp Stumpy Stallone film with Indy cars?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Mr.M

The yellow Scalextrc Mustang is very similar if not identical to the one used in the original Gone in 60 Seconds.

The car is the star for the last 30 mins. Although the car may as well be the star for the entire film as its more animated than the actors

Godd film though.

Oh and another - the black mean looking Carrera Dodge Charger is almost the spit of the car used in Blade.

And one more - pretty sure I've seen Mitsubishi EVO5s made by SCX. Jackie Chan used a couple of them in his films ("who am I" was one I believe)

Not forgetting the black 911s in that Michael Crawford classic "Condorman"

or the 996 used in "Bad Boys" "This is the fastest production car on the planet" reeeeaally Mr Smith.

Must do some work soon or slotforums going to get banned from work

I don't have any, Slik! I have got some Turtles on Skateboards (same chassis) but they're undrivable on wood! Comes up a bit short on the Cars from the Movies front too

Ferrari 355 looking like a dominant force so far!

Hi

Trying to limt to modern rtrs.

"The Racers" (Such Men Are Dangerous) with Kirk Douglas: Maserati 250f(not the one scaley does, but you can convert), Mercedes 196(Cartrix). Maserati A6GCS(Carrera).

"Le Mans":porsche 911, 917LH, 917K, Lola T70, Ferrari 512 coda lunga(I don't remember seeing a short tail).

"Herbie the Love Bug" in the first movie the bad guy drives a Ferrari 275(current fly) in some scenes.

"bathtub" Porsche (sorry , I don't know the number) and Corvette Stingray - King of the Hill (US road movie about Mulholland Drive). Dennis Hopper was the badass with the 'vette.

E-Type Jag - briefly featured in Shaker Run. Not sure but one of the bad guys stole a race car from a showroom which may have been a Zakspeed Capri? I NEED to see the film again. Don't know where you'd get the pink 6.6 Pontiac Trans Am from though.

Cheers,
Mark.

Fly Lola B98/10 and Panoz LMP

Featured as star car in Michael Vaillant movie of a few years ago.

Curiously, Fly released the Panoz in baddie Leader livery, but not the Lola in Vaillant colours. I guess the movie was a bomb they decided not to pay teh licensing fee.
