QUOTE (dtrader @ 16 Nov 2011, 09:52) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>As soon as I turn on the power, the cars will run at top speed till they flip off the track. I haven't found a way to control them with the hand controllers. Is there a known solution?

What you describe is what happens when an analog car is placed on a Carrera digital track.

You have to run cars that contain a Carrera digital chip on a Carrera digital track.

I have had this problem with my old style wireless controlers and resolved this with new batteries and I had reposition the IR Reciever and run the cable for it at least one track section away from the black box . other than that I have had no problems.

This problem is with the old style wireless controller that has the dip switches on the top of the controllers.

If B. Yingling is right that the cars are running as analog, then how do you switch them between analog and digital. These are the digital cars that came with the set. I saw a switch on the bottom of the cars but when I switch it, the cars just run the other way on the track. Still at full speed.

I tried what Don suggested. I replaced the batteries in the controllers. Do I need to replace batteries any where else? I moved the IR Recieve two track lengths away from the black box. I turned off the system and back on but still the cars run at full speed as soon as the power is turned on.

Am I doing anything wrong of do you have other suggestions?

Do they act the same if the controller's are turned off?

DTrader: YES. The cars fun a full speed at all times.

What happens if you unplug the wireless tower altogether? Do the cars just sit on the track?

DTrader: NO. The cars run at full speed at all times.

Do the cars have an LED on the bottom of the chassis near the switch you flipped?

DTrader: Yes, on the other side of the rocker arm from the switch.

OK. Only thing I can think of- the car's are coded as ghosts and their speed is set to maximum.

Place the braids of a car on the track, while holding the rear wheels in the air. So the motor and wheels spin. With your other hand, click the lane change button on one of the controllers twice. Lift the front of the car from the track, and replace it, while still keeping the rear wheels off the track. If the car has lights, they should be flashing now. Now click the lane change button on that controller two more times. If the rear wheels stop spinning, you have assigned the car to that controller.

Try this several times until you can get the car assigned to the controller.

I tried setting the controllers as you specified even before I started asking these questions but I tried again using all three controllers. No response. I have new batteries in each of the controllers. Any way to test if they are good???

I tried pushing the start button. The cars even run when that is pressed -- I was under the impression that they couldn't run till the countdown ended???

My last post does not look clear. Here it is again:

I tried setting the controllers as you specified even before I started asking these questions but I tried again using all three controllers. No response. I have new batteries in each of the controllers. Any way to test the controllers to see if they are good??? Do lights flash when they are in use???

I tried pushing the start button on the black box. If I press the button again, it does a count down for start. Before the count down, the cars run -- I was under the impression that they couldn't run till the countdown ended???

That's correct. I'd say something is wrong with your Black Box, since it would be odd for multiple car chips to go bad.

Do you know anyone else with a D132 set, so you could take one of your cars over there and see how it behaves?

Are you the original owner of the set?

The only other easy fix would be that someone had bypassed the digital chip in each of the cars. Take the body off and make sure the wires coming from the braids go to the chip, and a different set of wires comes from the chip to the motor. On D132 cars, you can plug the wires coming from the braids directly into the wires coming from the motor, and thus bypass the digital electronics altogether.

I have a similar problem - and the coding / decoding procedure does not work.

I initially thought that I may have the black box in pace car mode - but more than one car will behave the same at the same time - flat out as soon as you put the car on the track.

Is there anyway to reset the black box?
