I dropped in to Armchair Racer today to check out the Casino Royale DB5 and left completely disappointed from what I saw.

What a hopeless effort by Scalextric.

I mentioned to the owner that it would have been nice, considering this is #2 in a 3 car set, if Scalextric made the effort to produce a SCREEN ACCURATE mould of the car.

Utilising the Goldfinger mould with the ejector seat roof panel unpunched but clearly visible is complete rubbish.

The Gold Finger version is lovely. The Casino Royale version is utter trash for the $69 asking price.

I was so looking forward to owning all 3 versions. Now, I won't bother since Scalextric is simply taking this exercise as another opportunity to churn out trash.

When will they ever learn that not everyone is a cumulative collector. I'm not about having every model and I'm not about buying what I consider rubbish.

IMO, the Casino Royale model is utter rubbish.

Sorry for the rant. I'm just disappointed.

Don't worry, step over it, get yourself another (better executed) car and drive happily everafter.

Nah, I'm a lurker and have been for some time. With a young family and regular travel for work, I unfortunately have little time spare to participate in the forum.

In the case of this model, considering it's a 3 part, 3 years in the making set, I thought it important to call Scalextric on their near enough is good enough effort.

I think it's fair to say that if a competitor other than Scalextric paid the licensing and embarked on this set, it would have been done properly.
You may not agree, however the quality of Scalextric's competitors product mostly speaks for itself.
