I'm sure someone has posted this before but after cutting off the excess from IKEA anti slip matting I thought it may be perfect as trackside fencing, catch fencing or window webbing

I have used window screen material. It is a very fine mesh and co es in different materials including aluminium. Easy to cut to size and attach to uprights.. Has a very realistic look.

I am not too sure, it looks really too soft to me. Something a bit more rigid would be more realistic.

I bought a sheet of door screen but haven't tried it yet. Finding it a pain to cut

I cut mine with scissors , both the fibre glass and the aluminum.
Seeing as how there is no certainty that the mesh is in a true line, i start by taking the straight edge and measuring as i spread the screen out. Then a quick line with a marker and follow up,with scissors.
The Fibre glass is black and the aluminum is more silver colored.
It is a bit more rigid and gives a nice look when done. Over here we can buy it in different sized rolls in a plastic wrapper.
And it does protect the cars very well along with a good look.

I think for looks you want wire mesh window screening but for protection the IKEA thing is a good bet...

For those of you that have to suffer mozzies, the screen sold to keep the little blighters out is perfect. Not sure if it's sold in the UK. The one I use is made of tough nylon and, provided the supports are secure, it does a good job. It stopped a fast 24th scale car going flat out at the end of the main straight without a problem. (spring broke in the controller!)

Hey Gus3049... what is the base of your mozzie shield, the 'cement wall' feature constructed from & how did you attach it? Thanks

The wall is just wood dowelled to the track. Thin dowels for the uprights and contact adhesive to affix the mesh to the uprights. Without the wall, the uprights are just stuck in holes drilled in the track.
