Well done team mhsc 4 drivers in the top 8! Congratulations to Keith, Marc, Russell and John. MHSC must be well in the lead after that magnificent score.

Great homemade Coffee cake. Could t Luke's mum bake us one? We will pay for it.

Our round will be on 29 April unless there are some objections and the our pit room room is still available.
Proposed rules for our Sunday. Let me have any comments before we finalise the rules.

Champons League

Racing Rules - mhsc Sunday 29 April 2012

The mhsc lapcounting software and system will produce a roster of all drivers attending. The race results will be the best of 5 out of 6 races by time. In the event of a race 'crash' the timing and power can be paused by a marshall calling 'straight'. The race controller should only repond to a marshall or his own view of the race issue.

1) Race restarted if half the cars or more come off on the first bend after the start line.

2) Marshalls should put cars on the track as efficiently and without prejudice. Any car causing an accident should be put on last.

3) If a marshall cannot cope with the accident the race clock and power will be cut by the marshalls calling 'straight'.

4) Drivers should only call straight when their car comes off on a straight not caused not caused by bad driving.

In the event of a dispute the resolution will be resolved by a vote amongst the club chairmen( or one race representative from each participating club) and Ken Webb having the casting vote if required.

I was under the impression from the club reps that these dates were not confirmed but were waiting our feedback, as the Nascot round could be put back a month if required???

I put forward the date for Nascot over a month ago and was met with silence...

I asked Paul to put it on the Champ League web site (which he did straight away on February 7th) and it was also placed on our web site.... still no comment.

Nascot booked the hall and also booked catering to make all-comers welcome.

I have informed the Nascot comittee this morning and there a certain amount of disbelief that it has been left until now for someone to say anything.

If people don't turn up, we will loose money and if we cancel we may also loose money. There's also the problem of the hall being booked by other people in the weeks ahead.

When I was "organising" this series I must admit that I felt like I was banging my head against a wall trying to get people geed up, but at least I kept badgering people for answers... but now there seems to be a lack of any leadership whatsoever.

Am I to take it that we will have to try and get a date in June then? (There is an outside chance that we may be able to fill a cancellation on the following Sunday, 13th May).

Please answer quickly, as I will need to inform the people that run the hall and also the lady that will be giving up time to feed you lot.

kind regards

Nic - your proposed rules are down to whatever your club chooses... that was the original idea behind the series.

However your item 3 seems a bit limp... when I started racing it was tough luck if 6 cars came off in a corner and the marshall got confused. Nowdays people people seem to shout "straight" if their shoe-lace is undone

Seriously though - the original idea was that if it's your club we abide by your rules (as long as they aren't anything really wacko).

Yes 4 MHSC drivers in the top 4, but not home grown though, I think only young Doug comes into that catergory.

It was a good meeting and I hope the final two rounds are as enjoyable and we can get as many people as possible to both.

I agree with Marc that the Nascot round was announced several weeks ago and there were no objections at that time, it's been on my calender for some time.

The rules seem fine, except why does Ken have the casting vote that whould mean MHSC has two votes.

I do think we need to avoid getting hung up on this marshalling thing. The Champions League attracts drivers/marshalls of all abilities and experience, some people have done 100's of open events for others it is their first. Part of the art of driving is seeing where the inexperienced marshals are and taking it easy on that bend.

Regrets that I missed my home round on Sunday but some work came up that I could not turn down, as things have been a bit quiet.

I had been racing the previous two weekends in Wales & West and Slotrally so something had to give.

The only problem I have with Champs. League at the moment is the dates change week by week and when I have commited to the other two championships, work, and family time, something gets left out.

Still, glad everyone enjoyed the event, and why did no one tell me there would be cake!

Wayne
Happy to go with dates as they are as it doesn't clash with other events at the moment

Luke may bring some with him tomorrow night if there's any left

Sorry mate, didn't realise that this was a confirmation of the 6th May

I guess i'm a simple man who likes to be given a date in black & white saying "it will be this date"

Love you too

Sorry as usual it would appear that I have caused some confussion!!!, I asked at the westlondon round that MHSC be allowed to run the last round of the series as the winners of last years events, there were no objections at the time, but sel avi, it aint going to happen. and Burnt oak/Nascot woods round will be the last one, maybe Marc could look at changing the date to accommadate Zaks team but I am quite happy with the 6th May.
I am not quite sure what Nic is going on about, the rules are clear, and as far as I am concerned, each club does the best to conform to them, there have always been some problems that with good humour have been able to accommadated, and I hope we can continue in the same vein.
Also can I take this oppertunity to clear up for Nic who the club reps are, Nic they are not the club chairmen, they are members of the clubs asked by originally greymalkin, mooster and I, who ask the club members if they wanted to take part, that is why Matt, Marc, Kieth and Jon white and John are the representatives, I have no idea why you were told it was the clubs chairmen, if anyone else knows can you please let me know.
I have confirmed the 29th of April for the MHSC round, and unless we hear otherwise Marcs round will be on the 6th May.
This has always been a cheap championship that has been a pleasure to take part in, I hope it will continue to be, it is loosely run with really only one diffinate rule, 'NO ELECTRIC CONTROLLERS', the cars are supplied by the clubs and the atmosphere by those that attend, we are racing TOY cars and it is fun, long may it continue.

I want everyone to understand the structure of the racing and the day. I have consulted the club's race steward and he his making amendments so we can publish a short but comprehensive set of rules for our club. c'est la vie! ( I did French A level which helps with Davic)
Ken

For God's sake get it organised. I know this post will be a bit unpopular but think about it.

Here is a quote from another club-

I posted a link to the Champions League web site (I presume you mean that)…. Which has nothing to do with me.
The rules have mysteriously gone missing from this site this morning!!!!

When I ran this series, everyone knew what was going on and everyone knew who had won at the end of season and prizes were given out. For the past three seasons it's been a farce - which is the main reason why nobody from Burnt Oak/Nascot attends anymore.

FOR GODS SAKE, the rules are quite simple, no stupid electric controllers, cars supplied by the host club, top four from each team score for their club in the league, each person scores for themselves in the championship, no other rules, far to simple I suppose, these are simplified of course but remain the basic rules.
There has always been a verbal agreement that we should race to the hosting clubs rules so there were no rules around restart reruns or straights, as these were down tO the hosting club, sorry maybe we should have dealt with this but when the series was setup we used the KISS system along with the WYSIWYG approach to these asw e were racing to the host clubs rules, maybe the committee should discuss these away from the forum via emails using respond to all.
I have always said that we should use the forum to advertise the series and that any advertising is good but I think enough is enough and that any futher discussion be done of forum.
IT IS A GOOD SERIES LETS KEEP IT THAT WAY

probably serveral hundred pounds from my wallet

Anyhow well said Ken, TBH I like the variables in the supplied cars & timing equipment otherwise it's the same thing over & over again, lets face it at Oxford's track, with the blue lane being so long it probably accounted for most drivers slowest time so you may as well not raced on it!!! but saying that, that's the challenge & we're loving it & still the same faces in the top points positions
