As I am building the BOAC 500 2F again ( the first one was 30 years ago) I was wondering if anybody eles attended that race .
Every model I have seen is painted bright white but from my personal knoledge it was
more of an ivory colour . I have a few photo,s but in those day,s I could only afford black and white !

I always like to spray any Chaparral I build with Halfords Ford Diamond White which gives it that soft Ivory finish you mentioned Sidewinder.

I decided to use Ford Oxford white , I always prefer an off white for all models as it gives a more "solid" look .
I saw the 2F at goodwood FOS last year and it was very "white" not the ivory I remember . Perhaps they changed the paint mix for the Brands Hatch race !

yeah you know the later type that had the lancer bodies.

I had a couple left over from that era .I only managed to get an early one last year ,after I went to the trouble of cloning one as a complete vac form right down to the chassis, its on my page on scratch built .com

I,m afraid it,s a very "bloby" aussie resin job !
When I fix the wing on I will post a picture if I can figure out how .
I sent of for the 2F , P4 and a mk4 Ford and they are all total **** !.
They have been sitting around for a couple of years and I finaly decided what the hell
and gave them a go , they look OK when running but just dont look to close : (

That's the trick- put a quick enough motor in 'em and no-one will know! Just paint the back end nicely!
Perhaps an action shot if you're feeling nervous then, Sidey? But I'd really like to see it- I havn't tried one of those 'Aussie blobs' myself, and I'm often tempted by the sheer range they have on offer. But then by the time I make up my mind to order, some other company has the shell I want... Proto-Slot's Howmet and Jag XJ13 fr'instance, plus Top-slot's promise to make the full range of Chaparral's available. Spoilt, aren't we?

What was the question?

Just to put the lack of quality in perspective , I made a couple of fibreglass bodies using
vac-formed shells as the mould . The detail and finish far exceded the aussie product .
This was also my first attempt at casting and the shells ironically came from another aussie !
