QUOTE Hopefully they can vent their spleens there and leave this place a tad more easy-going.
As often, Peter has it summed nicely - this does appear to be the case and we now have a significant reduction in drivel posting here.
The chatroom is probably a blessing to us.
I think the ring leaders might well fall out with each other there, as children do.
I can't quite clarify my own attitude towards the chat-room topic on our own board though.

I am about to leave for our final club race of this season and won't be back until 22:30 or so UK time, although "Tropi" might well appear to be hanging around the entire day.

I am a little concerned that there are a couple of middle aged men (Jonny & Aaron) on a Sex oriented chat room service (UKChatrooms) with a handfull of our under-18 members.

Seems all the main bitching is done by the middle aged men and the kids are just adding their whoops

The bitching goes on all night. The quote above show Aaron talking about a boycot of the Forum... It grates me that he reacts like this

Is there some cosmic law that says after so long all forums degenerate into this? I only have experience of SCI and here.

For no solid scientific reason, I think we need to find a way to increase the new members/viewers to keep the thread gene pool fresh. Too often the few who post end up in the same old arguments. Obvious ways would be to get a "Visit SlotForum" slip of paper in every slot car box sold in Britain. Expensive! So any ideas?

As for Aaron I think his behaviour conforms to the stereotype of destroy what he cannot control. Sounds a bit like Jonny in extremis too. As for Inte one assumes he's too young to now better.

(Odd how I have clear views of people I have never met, but then I have not met any of you (apart from Peter). Thing is, I am using these views to take actions - and it's all a hobby about toy cars!)

But why should Doug have to make allowances for the psychological problems of others, including us moderators? No reason I can see.

Time, therefore, for a bit of mission statement checking. So, what is the aim of SlotForum, why is Doug spending money and time, the rest of us
just time, on it?

just back from wrexham where I have had a few words with Inte,
he seems to think he is being targeted and cant understand why his posts should be edited ,he seems to blame tropi mostly and says that he will be keeping a low profile and not posting , dont know if he will manage that. Re comments about arron and johnny being 2 middle aged men posting in a chat room mainly fequented by kids it is a worrying thing , my wife is a criminologist and was horrified when I told here what was going on as the peodophile aspect of chat rooms is something she has studied (not that arron and john should be classified in this way) but some people may wonder about motives .Inte is only young and hopefully will come back on track we'll have to wait and see.

If it is a place with a lot of sex related chatrooms then I would strongly suggest we don't ever provide a link to it.

Let these folks blow of steam there with their little hissy fits. What do we lose if they boycott SF? Not a lot - except for quasi official Fly contact and support.

Aaron is slipping badly in my estimation.

Just back, rather late and terribly tired so am nipping off to bed sharpish tonight.
Much sensible comment from you all.

Just a quick note regarding young Rob - I am almost certain I haven't deleted or even edited one of his posts, certainly not recently, so I am at a loss as to why he thinks I have - most peculiar. I can only think that one of the 'ring-leaders' has filled him with some nonsense - it simply isn't true.
Ah well, night night chaps.

Next day, now largely recovered from the euphoria of totally whitewashing my club's unlimited F1 class on the last day of the season and after no previous success what ever!

Post by Astro

At present, Aaron is exercising his right to stay away.
But, given that he has admitted to the effort of actively canvassing many of our members in a deliberate attempt to damage Slot Forum, through boycott, and has most definitely incited the same in the chat room, we must consider whether we will permit him to return, even if he wants to.

There are plenty of ways of responding to Astro's relatively innocuous post, including ignoring it, deleting it (it IS off topic), closing the Topic or making a statement. I am currently inclined to ignore it, but if it builds, we will have the same decision to make anyway.

For those who don't know, It appears that Astro is the boy friend of "Hugs" and they jointly host the chat-room where Aaron incites insurrection etc. However the subject seems to be boring most of them at this point and will possibly just fade away naturally.

Jonny sent me a reported post:

Link to post: http://www.slotforum.com/forums/index.php?...t=0&#entry24699
------------------------------------------------
Report:

Why is this allowed to stay posted when it`s bound to incur the anger of some members and is not anything to do with the positive aspects of the forum or the hobby. Surely it`s comments like these that cause problems? I`m surprised that you let this one stand and delete milder posts.

------------------------------------------------

I asked him if he felt that it refered to him and I said that if I removed this then another bunch of people would start complaining about us deleting again. He then agreed with me and said that it was fine. Then he added his views the the post linked to above.

No, there isn't, but there is a natural law that says, the more successful the forum is, the greater the chances of attracting loud mouths, wishing to dominate the rest. It's virtually inevitable over time. The proven way to deal with them, after they inevitably ignore the usual polite requests to tone it down, is suspension, short term or permanent. If they bother to return under other another name and behave, then problem solved. If they misbehave again, ban again. It works just fine and nothing else does.

It is.
This information is 100% reliable other than what consititutes 'a lot'.
Some, definitely.

I had hoped so, but he has in fact joined another new start-up forum as a moderator(!), in direct competition with us. I don't believe the competition will be up to much but am slightly startled to see the EXACT same page layout section as our own.
THAT is a bit cheeky I feel.
I don't know who actually owns and hosts it - yet.

Hey all,
Another reason for disruption and disturbance from members is boredom. I mean the ones that tend to spend alot fo time on the forum suddenly find a period (we saw it on SCI frequntly and here at the end of last year) where there is little new, exciting or interesting to hold their interest so michief wins out every time. As does the inclusion of a 'fight' over personalities.

I intend to also contribute towards this temporary problem by adding, in the next week, some new and interesting post /themes and articles.

Once you guys have read them I would appreciate input on topic, format etc sent direct to me so I can tailor my own plans to suit.

I don't see 'banning' or 'suspension' as anything other than a last resort. I am positive we have between us the guile, IQ and resourcefulness to solve this without the confrontation that banning someone, and mayhaps producing a sought after Martyr effect, will certainly bring.

I post this here but it is equally valid for the problem posters, who I see as Jonnys, Gaugemaster / guitarman and, with sheeplike youthfulness, Integrali.
Anyone I missed? (no - Moped is just moronic
)

I had a long talk with Integrali this afternoon and felt I got a viewpoint across that he hadn't looked at. So we will see if it worked or not over the next day or so.

As for the UK based new forum, moderated by Lotus and Inte', it is a basic piece of junk, nfested with spyware, adware and popups so get your firewalls and virus software ready. It won't lst even though they seem to have dragged Aaron into it with their own version of 'world first Fly coverage
Can't even post pics on it- only links.
However as has been pointed out the layout is a direct copy and I stand with Nuro on refusing to allow links to it, explaining that the direct copying is the reason why.

Nice to see you around again Allan!

I agree with all you say, including supension being a last resort.

Unfortunately, with rampant egotists of the jonny s type, that last resort is the ONLY resort other than letting them take the place over. He has created more problems here than Moped ever did, in that dear Mop has simply been very silly on occasions but this guy is definitely spiteful. Patience and guile is a complete and total waste of time on this arrogant and over-inflated ego. He has exhibited, well-witnessed, real malice in the famous chat room and is directly responsible for leading the likes of young Rob and others astray.
Beneath the bull**** and bonhommie, quite a nasty piece of work.

Look out for something being refered to on the chat room as UKFN.

It might simply be the new copycat forum but some comments were being bandied about last night there which then stopped when I went off AFK mode.

The guys that run it DO seem to be trying to prevent the malicious crap from being public at least and it does seem to be limiting the spam on the forum.

Lets watch and see if Astro really does want to clean it up.

I think Jonny S , Aaron and co are likely to become alot less active on slotforum.

Tropi I also agree that with a prima Donna like Jonny, guile does not work but we have to consider the lengths he would go to to 'get his own back' if we ban him - long ones is my bet, if he is going to go quiet, lets just sit back and watch awhile?
I would back any ban immediately should his atitude and bad manner continue, get worse or return.

Anyone know what actually goes on there these days?
Is insurrection still a talking point?
They had a rule that forums were a forbidden subject - I wonder if that still stands.

I had a quick look at slotters forum this morning and it seems to be dying - no posts for about 4 days and no great loss in my opinion.
