Chipping B o201b2 or C o201c1

Hello,

As I have already commented in another post, I am converting all my NDigital to Oxygen, I have already had your help to decide the controllers (they will be SCP3 with external battery power supply), and now, I would like to know your opinion /impressions of Chip C are better than those of B, I have read that the main differences are 2, 1 is that it is smaller and 2 that can be updated using bluetooth.

I have consulted some O2 user, and they have told me that they prefer model B, but they have not given me important reasons.

In the forum I have read, and it has seemed to me that there is no special problem, and it is possible that I have some problem in the programming or in the pairing, but I think that I will have those problems anyway because I have no experience, and I think it is independent of whether it is B or C.

I would like to know if you, if tomorrow you have to buy a chip, you will no longer buy type B, and you will buy C.
Thanks.

Hi, I normally buy Type C chips nowadays, I have no issues with pairing them, in fact the majority of my cars now have the C chip. I use mainly the bootloader, of which an update is coming soon. I did not yet register them in the app, so can't comment on that but could be that pairing/update via app is still a bit unstable but is being worked on.

Thank you very much Minardi, for the answer .... if you have used B and C, in your case, then ¿you have not found any difference ?.
Do you not consider that there is any improvement?
Thanks a lot.
I think a lot of the guys that are already invested in O2 had gotten used to using the PC bootloader for managing chips and controllers, and that having to use an app on a phone/tablet is a hassle.

If you're just coming into the system, might as well get Type C. If you get type B, make sure they are B2, which can also use the app.

Thanks Mr.Flippant;
I understand what you say, for that reason I was asking, I have not seen negative opinions nor have I seen too many positive ones.
It has become very clear to me after your explanation.
I will ask my provider if the one he has offered me is B2.
Thank you very much for your help.
My take is that the B chips are great... but when I buy more I choose the C1 as I like the option to flash it as either O2 or native SSD (and native D132 too). The multiplatform decoder appears to have no down-side.

I have a few B1 decoders which need the USB dongle as bootloader for reflashing and B2 which can be reflashed as per the C1 i.e. using nRF tools (for iOS/Andriod) or the Slot.it app (currently Android only).

B1, B2 and C1 they are all great :)

ok ..... thank you very much for your clarification.
As Greg says, the B2 chips operate like the C1s: you can use the same app and firmware.

I got one of the first C chips and there were some issues with the LEDs fitted in the chip, plus some other issue with the firmware.

But I still prefer the B2 chips for the time being.

The main reason is that:

- I like to run lights for my cars through the chip. I build my own light kits and I easily find the plugs to fit the lights into the B1/2 sockets. The C1 light kits should be not far away (Maurizio is writing the manual for it). If it provides more than just simple front/rear and brake lights then my opinion on this might change. But for the time being I am super happy with the B2 chips.

- I do not like the strip used for the hall sensors. I find the hall sensor with 3 wires used in the B chips much easier to install.

In terms of functionalities (eg, pairing, registering, updating, ec.) there is no issue that I can find. The C1 chips work perfectly well.

Yepp B2 and C1 are both nice... go B2 if you want easy wiring of lights (as suggested by Grunz)... or go C1 if you want options to reflash firmware for SSD-native mode and/or D132-native mode.
