I started messing around with layouts back in summer after my good dad built me a table set up in the garage.

Finally decided, a compromise on circuitry as I want scenery more, on this:

Named after the sportscar legend, Circuit du Jacky Ickx will be set in imaginary Belgium during the mid seventies.

I'm using scaley sport (
) purely because I have it. The borders will be sprayed black and the curbs be black and white instead of the red and white as standard.

Elevation will be from the topmost esses upwards, then a downhill hairpin towards the end.

I'll post progress as I make it!

Good layout planning Gary. You will have a lot of space left for the scenery, and that is always nice. And as the rest of the lads…I am also looking forward to see more pictures as you progress.

Great and simple layout.
Looks like - on the picture - that your uphill "S"-corner/chicane is made with innercorners, but maybe it's just an illusion?

Could be an interesting track with an upgrade to digital racing!

Looks Really good Gary.

Smaller layouts are great for home use, and you've made it very interesting with the elevation changes. Plenty of scope for some varied landscape.

Thanks for all the kind words!

They uphill esses is just R2, as on the plan. It does look like R1, now you mention it Rene. I think its my poor photography!

I'll try and get a better shot of the elevation changes tomorow. I'll be working on 'filling the gaps' and building the hills, rockfaces etc.

Sorry for the lack of updates, It took me a while to source some suitable (and cost effective) chicken wire.

Updates:

Have added 'rock faces' to the elevation:

The 'hole' after the esses is going to be a tunnel.

I'm making a few buildings, and also cannabalising some old style plastic pit buildings.

Next up:

Curb modifying and painting/grassing the table.
