"IT IS THE FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT OF EACH AND EVERY SLOT PILOT TO HAVE SLOT CARS WITH ROUND WHEELS AND TYRES!"

Discuss...

Here's one that's been bugging me for a while. There are lots of clubs who run "box standard" events. No changes to car. Fine. I have no issues with that, but if you run "box standard" non magnets, it's disappointing to see cars having "kangaroo kurrent" and bouncing down the track (must be that AC leakage
) not to mention the fact that racecraft i.e. control is more or less non-existent.

Should get some interesting replies on this...

btw if the site's moderators think this is better in Pit Lane then by all means move it. I wasn't sure, but seeing as this is the racing section...

Fair point. My view is that you can race box standard cars once they have been prepared and tuned. That doesn`t have to mean modifying any parts. Can`t see the sense in running all classes at more or less the same speed and with simlar handling characteristics so, to me the answer is to race as close to box standard as poss. Take your point about square wheels but it is easily sorted by sanding the hubs before you replace and then sand the tyres

Exactly my viewpoint there Jonny.

Mmm...... cars with round wheels? Doesn't seem like a lot to ask, does it?
I mean, we've got cars with lights, cars with diffs, even robot cars that drive themselves!
Round wheels ought to be achievable. Then again, so should gears that mesh, bearings that fit, straight axles, wheels that don't wobble...........

If only.

I don't think we need to move this thread - watch now as one of my mod colleagues moves this thread!

As for round hubs I've not often noticed that cars I buy don't have 'em (urgh, complicated negatives). Maybe that is because there are soooo many bumps and bombholes on the Oxford plexy.

I did have a hell of a time sourcing some SCX Subaru hubs that were properly centred, mind. That was annoying. Never seen such diabolical wheels, not before, and not since.

HAHAHA! HOO HOO HOO! STOP IT!

Ahem... I know about SCX scooby hubs. My scooby now sports slot it plastic wheels and Ortmann's. As for the wheel design, I got a cutting disc in the old dremel rip-off and hacked out the spokes from the SCX wheels, then glued them in place
Bit of a royal pain to do it, but it looks OK.. Ok Ok probably not worth the time and effort I know...

Funny you should say that Inte, but I have just been working on some wheels that are just so square, they are really round... They work perfectly on my track. lol

What you need is more power. At a high enough speed everything goes round...

Weird to think our Chieftain Tank once had a road wheel go square! A very harsh croos country drive reduced it to a small square section that we kept in the Troop store for years. Loads of sparks on the road and very annoyed German civilians making signals from their cars as the thing got very hot and showered bits all over the road...funny but square wheel didn`t slow us down much

Hi

A local here fessed up a few days ago that his NEED to win "box stock" ment that when he bought a car to race, he also bought a carton of spares like wheels and axles. Tested each to find the accidental round ones and swapped them out!

So, he has the most expensive "stock out of the box" cars in history!

you almost had me believe that "box stock" means you buy a box full of spares, and conseqently build your car from these....

Do you know I'd love to see some scumbag wheel clampers try and stick a clamp on a main battle tank
or maybe several clamps

Just stick it in drive and watch the tracks spit those crappy yellow things all over the place. Whilst you're at it, just roll over his van too

I'd really want to see 60+tons of rolling death mate with a Ford Transit!
Better than getting the BBc's Watchdog program onto them

OOPS too much laughter...nearly wet meself.
