I'm sorry, I know this has been done to death, but I can't find an answer to my specific problem.

I must have cleaned my classic track at least half a dozen times in the last couple of months. My latest method is loosen the crud with a Scotchbrite pad, rub contact cleaner into the rails, go over it with the Scotchbrite again, moisten a clean lint-free cloth with clean WD40 and rub it on the rails then wipe the rails with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth until the cloth will run along the rail and come off clean.

STILL I'm getting dirty braids in 10-15 laps. If I run one car for 50+ laps without cleaning the braids it noticably slows the more laps it does.

What am I doing wrong?

TIA
Stuart.

hi
yes as above.Since the introduction of the inox on my layout some 12 months ago i have forgotten what cleaning rails is about, just a flick over with a magic duster once a week and it's good to go.

OK, thanks. I've read that elsewhere on the forum as well, since I posted here.

Trouble is that I have an in-built aversion to buying from overseas and I can't find any on the 'net UK-sourced. Any ideas??

Yeah, an APB (all points bulletin, that is ;-) for spare bottles of INOX MX3 in the UK might be beneficial. Failing that, an attempt through Jaycar might work. Some people have success ordering one bottle, others have said they were required to buy 4... others get nothing but notes about not being able to ship it. So, that's a gamble.

Hopefully someone will be able to sell you a bottle, or part out a little bit of one of theirs, or even come over and help you treat your track. It lasts for a long time.
