Hi guys

Just thought I'd document our various trips this year to slot car events outside Manx shores, starting with this weekend's visit to Stoke, for Round 1 of the 2012 GB Slot Rally Championship. There are many more lined up, including two in March.

Club personnel attending this round will be: Ryan Kneale; Dave Kneale; Chris Angold; and Dave Capelen.

Having had our monthly club Slot Rally night last night, most cars should be pretty well set up for the weekend - or in my case, I still have to solve a nasty case of Escortitis....
Or, to put it bluntly, I may substitute alternatives for the Mk1 and Mk2 I ran last night.

We'll be trying to get amongst the points again with Ryan and I having had a few top 10 finishes last season, the highest being 5th places - the top 15 in each class score points.

We're on the boat Saturday morning, with a trip to Pendle on the cards on the way to Stoke and then a good night's sleep, hopefully, before an early (0830) start to the rally on Sunday. A new venue/organiser, mainly new tracks and some new faces to rallying. Report and photos will follow next week.

Cheers
Dave

Morning folks

Arrived back this morning at 0545 after a few hours sleep on the boat and will do a report later, when the full results have been posted on Slot Forum.

The definite top ten placings I can confirm were:

Classic

6th - Dave Capelen (SCX Fiat 131 Abarth)
7th - Ryan Kneale (SCX Fiat 124 Abarth)

Modern 2wd

9th Ryan Kneale (Ninco Renault Clio)

Also, we think Chris Angold was around 8th - 10th In Pro Stock with an MSC Ford RS200.

We may have had other top 15 placings (which are points scoring), but we need to see the full results to check.

I have some photos and a video clip to post here later on.

Cheers

On the 18th March Dave Capelan, Steve Morrow and Chris Angold travelled to the Wolves SlotRally 2012. A great mixture of rally stages.
The results are here: Wolves SlotRally Results

A summary of the results are below:

Classic:
5th Dave Capelan SCX Fiat 131
15th Chris Angold SCX Mk II Escort
18th Dave Capelan SCX Fiat 124
22nd Dave Capelan SCX Mk II Escort

80's
10th Steve Morrow SCX Lancia Delta S4
17th Chris Angold TeamSlot Audi Quattro

Modern 2wd
6th Steve Morrow PowerSlot VW Polo
13th Chris Angold Ninco Celica
14th Steve Morrow SCX Suzuki Swift

Modern 4wd
5th Steve Morrow Ninco Ford Focus
29th Dave Capelan Ninco Mitsubishi
31st Chris Angold TeamSlot Celica

Pretty good showing from the Manx team. Although there were a few car issues which gave some poor results, these were made up for with Dave and Steve getting a 5th place each. Steve also managed a 6th and a 10th. 4 top 10 places altogether. Chris was pleased to beat Dave in their battle of the Mk2 Escorts.

Why not come to mhsc on Sun 1 July for our endurance race. You might win a car Saturday night Premier Inn hotel is nearby. If you come over we could open the club for you sat eve....and put up a little rally track with some ds timing...

Thanks for the invite slot32, I'll pass it on to the other members. I don't hold out too much hope though as I think finances are directed towards some other SlotRally rounds at the moment.

Hi guys

Just back at Travelodge Pontypool after Wye Valley Summer Stages at Abergavenny....the only Manxie there today!

As far as I could make out, having only listened to the list of names read out, some relevant provisional results look like they are as follows:-

Classic

1st - Matt Tucker (SCX Fiat 131 Abarth)
2nd - Dave Capelen (SCX Fiat 131 Abarth) + 4 secs

3rd - Chris Binley (Ninco Austin Healey 3000) +0.4 secs
14th - Dave Capelen (Either Fiat 124 or Alpine Renault)
15th - Dave Capelen (Either Fiat 124 or Alpine Renault)

Modern 4wd

15th Dave Capelen (Ninco Subaru Impreza)

Phil Field won 4 of the classes, but I can't remember who won the 6th class....

At the top of the Classic Championship, I think it is as follows, after 4 rounds:-

1st - Phil Barry ------------------------- 85 pts
2nd - Dave Capelen -------------------- 72 pts

Matt Tucker is now up to 50 points and is battling with John Underwood, Martyn John, Gareth Jex and Keith Clements for 3rd spot.

No doubt full results will be out in the next 24 hours and updated Championship tables in a fortnight or so.

Cheers

Hi folks

Yes, it was nice to get onto the podium in the UK at last, I've progressed from 6th to 5th to 3rd and now 2nd this season. Only 4 seconds down on Matt Tucker wasn't too bad, it equates to about 3 "offs"....I had less than usual, but just not enough stages without any offs at all. For example, I had 2 offs on the last stage of the day...!

I've checked the Classic Championship positions again and it's closer than I thought:-

1st - Phil Barry ------------------------- 82 pts
2nd - Dave Capelen -------------------- 72 pts

So I need podiums all the way now to try to close the gap on Phil, who uncharacteristically was only 8th yesterday.

4 Rounds done and the best 5 of 8 to count.

I've discovered that Matt Tucker won the 6th class, so it was 2 wins for Matt and 4 for Phil Field.

Cheers

Hi folks

I owe this thread a few reports and photos from 2012 - will try and get them up here in the next few weeks.

First trips away this year will be by Chris Angold later this month and in February - down to Abergavenny for the first round of the Slot Rally GB Championship and then Hereford in February for Round 2.

Cheers
Dave
