Just to mention that a full track layout and support is now underway, Ronaldo has started the construction work for the base
and is using several lengths of 8x2 rough joinery timber to machine and turn, hopefully the frame will be ready within a fornight.
Chris is going to organise the boards to be cnc to draft drawings that have being produced, pictures of this build and further updates will be posted as and when

Track layout size is 14ft x 8ft made up of 2x 8'x4' and 2x 8'x3'
Frame is 4x2 dressed and moulded and tennoned to locate into 6 moulded turned 4x4 legs
The legs and rails are to be bolted to each other to allow ease of build and dismantle

Nowt to do with me Lloyd!
I`m just a bystander in all this, so I can`t take any credit for the project at all.
I`m a right spanner when it comes to owt handy!

The Great Ronaldo is our resident tree killer & therefore is in overall command of the build, New Chris is the computer design genius in charge of the track planning & organising the CNC routing whilst Poison Dwarf Chris is pitching in with general handywork.
They might let me loose with a paintbrush.....if I`m lucky...
That`s the great thing about NERCS, it`s everyones club & loads of people give & do things to keep the club going.
Cheers,
Kev.

Okay Not quite posh Lloyd, summit that looks the part, even though it's just supporting the boards, am going for aesthetics

Have fininished all the rails, ive dressed them, put a mould on the bottom edge and although the operation is back to front
have machined the tennons on, and are now ready for the mortices,

The legs have being glued, dressed to size, and are now ready for turning on the lathe.

What finnish are we using, ie painted, or varnished.

am off home now

Quick update, the base frame is finished and has being varnished to a rich brown mahogany, track design has now being agreed, and will remain similar to existing but more smoother, programme is being written to allow cnc machining of boards, We will be using grade a birch ply 18mm furniture quality boards. The design will incorporate, the facility of changing to a nascar type oval for practice nights or other events,

will put up drawings asap.
