What are the aftermarket options for replacing the contrate/crown gear on the ex. SCX Scalextric cars such as the Ferrari 288 GTO and the BMW M3 E30?

The 'standard' Scalextric contrate/crown gear of the period won't do, because its motor shaft guide slot is only a nominal 2mm width for the nominal 2mm diameter motor shaft. The ex. SCX cars have a nosed pinion added to the motor shaft with the nose (and therefore the contrate/crown gear guide slot) being a nominal 2.4mm diameter.
