Recently, every time I visit SlotForum, I get the annoying cookie request below. Previously I'd get it once a fortnight or so. Nothing has changed my end with my browser and cookie settings.

Please can someone get rid of it, if not permanently, then at least so that it's not appearing every visit.

I get them a lot, but only on the first visit to a site. Thereafter the cookies seem to have an expiry date before which I don't get repeat requests.

The request is insincere bullsh*t anyway. I wish the site owners would replace it with something like this:

By any chance are you running any adblockers or pop-up blocker extensions on your browser? These can prevent the page from storing your settings and cause these messages to reoccur every time you visit the forum. If you do, please attempt to disable these and log in. See if this stores the settings for you.

As I said in my original post, nothing has changed my end.

I am using an adblocker, but always have done without problems. Nonetheless, I disabled it, but it's made no difference.

I also view SlotForum on my mobile, and that too is now getting a cookie request everytime I visit the site, which wasn't the case until recently.

What would that achieve? A new one would be added next time I visited the site.

I think the internet is now sufficiently established that most users are familiar with cookies and the endless advice to delete cookies, browser caches and all the other suggestions that don't solve the problem.

Incidently, I noticed today that I'm now getting a few ads that bypass my adblocker (although they're easily blocked by another method). The new ads are a very recent phenomenon, just like the change in the frequency of cookie requests. Both changes happening at the same time is unlikely to be a coincidence.

It's possible for VS to configure cookie requests so that they don't happen every time a user visits the site. Whether VS has the will to do so is an entirely different matter.

Just for the sake of testing (I'll have to spin up a dummy account and spin up the VPN to grab a UK link so the notice appears), if you try the site in an incognito tab, I assume nothing changes at all and it continues to pop up each session?

Interesting. Accessing the site using Firefox incognito solves the problem. However, doing so means I have to log in each visit, which isn't ideal.

I use an adblocker. Incognito reduces the number of ads that are served to just one. In normal Firefox mode, my adblocker blocks 14.

Incognito is basically working with a totally clean instance of FF (more or less)...so something in the regular FF settings could be conflicting, unrelated to the adblocker. I hate to ask, but could you reset FF back to default settings? It shouldn't remove any extensions, at least according to this (though it looks like they'll be disabled?).

I can look into this further, as I'd hate to have you start over with FF but betting its some type of cookie setting or similar.

Resetting didn't solve the problem, so I completely uninstalled Firefox, removed all traces of it from my PC and reinstalled a fresh copy. That seems to have solved the issue, but also made me much more attractive to your advertisers. Prior to reinstallation, my adblocker was having to block 14 ads. Now it blocks 51!

The only thing I've lost is the ability to spellcheck my posts here. I can't remember whether I'd installed a third-party spellchecker to do so, or whether there's one included with the forum software, but which I can't find. Any idea?

Anyway, thanks for your help.
