Hi all,

I have been playing this game for quite a few years and so when I though that I would put a couple for cross-overs in my analogue circuit, I did not expect a problem. But......

Allow me to summarise and if anyone has any suggestions I will be happy to try them.

This is what I have:
Analogue circuit.
A Pendle SR power supply and their modified half straight power base connector.
Old style pacer unit also connected.

Track working great without any cross-overs.
Install one cross-over (and remove track where second is to be installed) and controllers/power works well to each lane as it should.
Install second cross-over and then there is a short between both lanes so one controller supplies power to both lanes!!!!

Removed pacer unit - problem remains.
Have checked cross-overs for shorts - nothing.

Am I missing something basic or very technical? I have to admit that I did not think that cross-overs would stump me but I am all out of ideas. So, any suggestions anyone?

Thanks,

Philip

And then it came to me in a blinding trickle!!!!!!

Power taps!

I have power taps and these will have to be modified to allow for the cross-overs.

Thank you and good night.

If you use power taps for analogue, will it work if they are from same lane/rail to same lane/rail in second location? How about a loop cable from which each lane/rail receives its power?
That would avoid the digital connection conundrum.

I re-wired the taps this weekend and the track now works perfectly. Happy days!!!

Thanks for the thoughts Sealevel. Not 100% with you but that is because I am a bit hard of thinking.

Cheers,

Hi Philip P.

What I meant was to parallel the slots with a 2 wire cable that is tapped on the same wire to the same rail (i.e. left wire to left rail of lane 1, right wire to right rail of lane 1, second 2 wire cable for second lane) so that you are tapping the power from the same rail/lane all around the track. Yes, it s duplicating the purpose of the power rails but might be a simple way to do power taps.

Aberstone,
That must be a digital track, right? I see if you approach in the right lane and get switched into the inner loop, you exit in the left lane, so must be digital or rally track.

Cheers!
